New System for Memorial Edits deployed by FindAGrave on 12/5/2013
Go to your Contributor/Profile page. Look in the upper right corner. You should now see a tab called "Edits." Check there to see if any recommendations that have been submitted to you. Review the suggestion and accept it. If you cannot confirm the information then you have the option to decline the suggestion.
This is more accurate for doing updates to names/dates/places/plot numbers/links. If the manager hasn't reviewed the suggestion within 21 days the program will automatically accept the information.

~A Poem for our Ancestors~
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

|Kevin Finch||RE: Franchon Van Voorhis|
Not a problem, these things happen with family searches. I looked for her online, and could only information that she once lived in Georgia, and a past known residence in New York.
I'm glad you finally found her.
|Kevin Finch||Franchon Van Voorhis|
I'm sorry to say, my contact at the cemetery could not locate a Franchon or Rita Van Voorhis. If you have additional information, please let me know, and I will try again.
|MaryK||Photo requests for St. Pats, Bay City|
I was unable to fill these requests because the office lady is very unhelpful about locating graves. She hates a list so I have found it easiest for the individual who is requesting the photo to find out the location. I have an index of existing tombstones that some nice ladies did for the Bay County GENWEB but that's for the old St. Pats where most burials are from the early 1900s. Sorry!

Please don't worry about this! And a huge thank you for solving the mystery so quickly. Find A Grave is work in progress and incorrect info is easily fixed/updated by caring memorial managers such as yourself. There were other photo requests at this cemetery, so it was no problems to look for your loved ones too. Pleased that you've been able to honor their memory. All my best, Greypaws

why did you not use the "EDIT"
Hi Jane, I hope you don't mind all the edits I sent this week. I did a run of photos in Acacia and wanted to pass along the missing plot info.

Thank you for doing the research for my family. It is always amazing to find out how life comes full circle even after 100 years.
Thank you for posting the obit. The stone for Michael At St Joseph's Cemetery Garnavillo reads "Michael Downey died.. (etc)" and below it also states "Margaret wife of Michael Downey died (etc)..." The index and family records also show Michael as his first name. Michael had a brother Richard. The author possibly made a error.

|William A. Shriver, Sr.||JERRY MICHEAL SHRIVER|
Sorry I have been so long getting back to you on
this but I have been tied up with therapy treatments.
My dates are all correct.
Jerry's was a child from his mother's first marriage.
I first met his mother Dorothy in Burmuda when my brother Dale and Jerry's father (Srg. Tate) were stationed there. I met Mr. Tate then.
When Dale and Dorothy came Stateside with four of the (Tate children) they came to Cleveland, Ohio where Dale's parents lived. They were married there and then and Dale adopted the children to the SHRIVER name.From there they went to Chandler Air Force Base, Chandler, AZ. where Dale was then stationed.
I saw them again there at which they had had another child. Later on Dale got stationed in Seattle, Washington where he tired after 30 years in the Air Force. If you want to know more email me at washrvr @ yahoo.com and I will give you my phone # and answer any questions.
Bill Shriver (Dale,younger brother).
