Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Rita June Collvins Mayfield. I was born February 20, 1942 in Jackson County, Oklahoma. I married Vernon Roy Mayfield on April 16, 1971. My primary hobbies are gardening, oil painting, genealogy and of course cemeteries. There is something comforting about strolling through the cemetery and reading the stones. I have recently moved to Cordell, Oklahoma, but have lived in Oklahoma most of my life. Once an Okie, always an Okie. I am slowly trying to get all my family memorialized here. My virtual cemeteries represent my family, unless otherwise noted. I am going to make them public once again, and hope I can leave them without the misuse that occurred previously.

If I have a memorial that is anyone in your family, and is unrelated to me or my husband, I will be glad to hand it over to you as I don't adhere to the 4 generation only guideline, just contact me. I count it a joy and a job well done if I am able to pass on your loved one to you. It is my number two reason for doing this, second only to wishing to save all the old and battered stones from being lost forever. If you find errors on any of the information on my memorials, please get in touch with me with corrections. You are welcome to use my tombstone photos on your family files and family trees, just note where you got it.

Please don't post death certificates or census reports in the picture area on my memorials. They don't belong there and are detrimental to the looks of the memorial, plus it takes up room where photos could be placed.

William Ball / Mary Smith Ball children mem transfers...
Keeping this family together is terrific. I had hesitated to request these. Did not want to appear to be just hoarding other members efforts. Again, Thank you for your time and even more thanks creating these memorials.

Transfer William Ball / Mary Smith Ball
I do so much appreciate the very very quick response to my request for transfer. I have upgraded these memorials with information. Also have just sent requests to update Lillie Ball, their daughter. I wish to thank you for the transfers and for updating the memorial for Lillie when time allows. This also much appreciated.

You are right. If I had checked the birth and death dates I would have caught it. Usually I do, but of course when I don't that is when I make a mistake.
Well guess I will look for my Edna again. Thank you, glad you caught it.

RE: Tomlinson
Wow, what a mess. I went back and did research and found proof that my martha jane tomlinson and your martha jane tomlinson are not the same. the 1850-1900 census shows them in 2 different places with 2 different husbands. I'm gonna try to clean my graves up. I will head to vaughn-dies cemetery tomorrow and get pics and correct info. I'm not sure that we are even related.

Thanks for your kind words. They are appreciated. I have been busy of late writing a book about my ancestors (recently published!)and haven't walked as many graveyards as I would have liked to. I agree, totally, we need to document the stones while we still can. Blessings to you and yours, MJ

RE: Martha Dillard
OK, so I'm doing research today on this weird split. I want to make sure that I understand. Irvin and Sally had Hardy. Irvin had Alfred with someone else but we don't know who. Do you have any information on Irvin? I have a family history from genew130 but it doesn't go far enough.
