Hi, I'm Katie! I live in Lyons, Oregon. I love everything history related, especially old cemeteries, houses, barns, books and photos.
I work full-time and am stepmom of a teen and tween as well as mommy to a feisty toddler. Please be patient with me! I will get to edits as soon as I can, but am unfortunately not able to process them every day.
My own family names includes the surnames Baptiste, Reid, Bennett, Bales, Fiester, Densford, and Hampton. I am also researching my husband and children's lines, including the surnames Garrison, Follis, Kirsch, Phillips, Mitchell, and Imlah.
I collect antique photographs, particularly those with names on them, and try to match them up with other researchers on Find a Grave or Ancestry.com. It's so much fun to unexpectedly add something to someone else's search and I hope someday karma will return the favor!
On memorials I manage, if myself or my son (Reid) are related I have stated our relationship in the notes section. I would be happy to transfer all others to a member of their family. Please request the transfer through the edit tab and state your relation.
If I add information to a non-related claim, I state my source. If no source is given, info is from edits from other contributors. Any and all information that I have is already listed on the memorial.
Please feel free to use any gravestone photos that I have posted for your personal genealogical use.
Ora John Taft (156013590) I just linked Ora John Taft (156013590) to his parents and spouse Goldie. I know it says "William H Taft" on his memorial, but I promise it's the same guy as the "Sherman W Taft" mentioned in the death cert record as Ora's dad. I think the death cert record is a typo, as William's middle name was Herman. Just letting you know I'm not going crazy, that really is his dad! :)
Peter Jensen Hi Katie! My name is Karen Jensen. My Grandpa (and Uncle) are Peter E Jensen, Sr and Jr who are buried at the Gervais Masonic Cemetery. I still live in Gervais, in fact, in the house that Grandpa built in 1922. Would you mind transferring their accounts to me? I am brand new to Find A Grave; this is SO exciting! Thank you for your help - Karen
RE: Photo request for Ben W. Knight The cemetery consists of 62 acres which would be extremely difficult for anyone to stroll. I can tell you that since Ben Knight is buried in a single grave, the sales of these were not recorded in the lot registry book. ALL of our records have been digitized. I regret that there are missing records, but we know that there are over 40,000 burials since 1867. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about previous neglect of the records. The cemetery employees(2) answer all the Find-A- Grave requests as time permits. It is very possible that Ben did not have a headstone. I am sorry, but having been a family historian for over 35 years, I understand your disappointment.
"Aneord" Strout Katie, you are sure a wordsmith! Good detective work I might add. The name carved on this old stone is indeed SANFORD STROUT. I don't know how to get it changed on the city computer records, but this is not the first one I've come across that differs from the gravestone in the short time I have been a volunteer photographer!
Cassandra, Cassie McGuire Stubblefield Hello, Thank you for the notification of the duplicate for my great great aunt. I was given the transfer from the ladies who read the cemetery. They did not know how to delete their posting for my gg aunt. Cassandra had used many spelling of her first name in her life time. This created then a double post. I have left it as was so other family can find her information. I had made the memorial for her already under McGuire as she was a lost aunt. Later through my ancestry. com research, more research etc. I finally found my aunt under Stubblefield, which is on her cemetery, she married at an old age to Mr. Stubblefield. Thank you again.
