This is a poem that I stumbled upon (author unknown):

Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.

God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you one will ever know.

I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. I've lived in FL, NY, CA, WA, and OR.

I found Find A Grave by accident. It has become one of my favorite sites to visit. It has given me a place that I can remember my mother and my sister Sandy and honor their memory right from my desk. Thank you Find A Grave.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim

Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.

"If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't want to know.

But, here's another question, which
Requires another view,
If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of you?"

Memorial visits.
Hi Neil B.,
I feel I already know you, but I don't really. You put tributes on all of my family & other memorials I've made. I thank you for that. Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
Thanks Neil,

Mom of Timothy L. Turner
Thank U for your visits to my loved ones this Memorial Day & so many in the past. My condolences to U in the loss of your dear Dad-in-law. I read that U were very close to him & that he was more like a Dad to U. That's a very special love he showed U. He's now at peace & with his beloved wife, Grace, after over 16 years. They are with Family & Friends & celebrating this special holiday with joy.

Thank U Neil for being a good friend. God Bless U always & you're in my prayers. ~ 2,862/2 Mon. 3:45 PM EST.

RE: John Kimble's online memorial
:) It was no problem! But this is something you can do - please call the mortuary and thank THEM, and I will tell you why. They were so busy (being Memorial Day), that they almost didn't want to help me, because they could tell I didn't know the person. I had to remind them that the reason they were busy was to help those who were searching for their loved ones. All I was doing was being the middle man by helping someone else do the same. Then they looked at their records. So if you tell them they were doing a wonderful service, maybe they will be more diligent in obtaining names of those whose graves I could NOT find, as they hadn't updated their records yet. Here is the number,(but only if you would like to):

Olinger Highland Mortuary, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80233 Ě (888) 587-1486

I got a photo of Mr. Brauman's grave site today per your request. I hope it is satisfactory. The sun cooperated with me today. Sorry it took me longer than I expected. Thank you, Pam

Findagrave severely lacking in advanced search features
I don't know if the KIA info is easily available to you.

If Find A Grave had more advanced search capabilities, I would look for these criteria:
Memorial created by = Neil B
Has grave photo = No
Year of death - year of birth < 30

I suspect that would give a pretty good list.

Memorial Day
I note that most (if not all) of your photo requests at Whitehaven are for veterans. Now that I have worked off the backlog there and in honor of Memorial Day, I would be willing to fulfill photo requests for any individuals among your memorials there whom you have determined were KIA.
