|Wanda Quinn Bradford||RE: Claude A. McGinnis, Jr.|
Thank you so much for the reply and additional information. However, I'm still unsure if they are one and the same...Claude and Rebecca married in 1927 in Atlanta. Rebecca came from a very prominent family in Florence, AL. She and Claude had a high social standing based on what I read in the old newspapers. They were still living in Fulton county (Atlanta area), Georgia in 1940 with their 3 children: Claude Augustus the III, Mary and Eleanor.
As I mentioned previously, there are several "Claude Augustus McGinnis" in the McGinnis family. I think one was a professional baseball player.
Such a puzzle! :-)

I have noted that the listing noted above
may be posted to the wrong location.
Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Donnellsville
is located in Clark County OHio, not Montgomery County.
There is a Correct listing for this cemetery
that has a great many postings if you would
like to transfer your listing.

I'm going camping tomorrow and will be gone for a week. Will look this over when I return.
|June Standley||Catherine Back, wife of John Carson Back|
I think we went through this before, and basically agreed to disagree on Catherine's last name. I used as my reference an entry on rootsweb.com who cited as her source: Family Group Sheet for Solomon & Jency Fields Back
Author: Carolyn Snider
Publication: Sep. 30, 2001
Note: Various sources for the information are cited.
Out of all of the entries on rootsweb, this was the only one I found with a source citation.
In doing a review today, I found another source citation - Two excellent books about the Bach (Back) Family and related families-- "We Came From Thuringia: Genealogy of the Bach Family in Breathitt County, Kentucky," and "The Bach (Back) Family in Southeastern Kentucky." Both are available at www.BachGenealogy. SOURCE MATERIALS.
On the couple of people who listed Catherine's name as Day, there was no source citation.
|Wanda Quinn Bradford||Claude A. McGinnis, Jr.|
I am writing in regards to memorial #44625421 for Claude A. McGinnis, Jr. I am seeking information on a person of the same name (Claude Agustus McGinnis, Jr. or II, birth date year and death date year BUT he lived in the Atlanta, GA area. His wife was Rebecca Ashcraft McGinnis. He was born in Atlanta, GA, Jan. 16. 1900 and died in 1965. Rebecca was born April 4, 1904 in Lauderdale county, Alabama. They had 3 children: Claude A. McGinnis III, Mary and Eleanor. I have found no information that suggests they moved from Georgia. Rebecca graduated from a college in Georgia after her marriage and was active in the Atlanta society.
I am wondering if your Claude A. McGinnis is your kin, and if so, if you have any additional information. There are several McGinnis men named "Claude" thus, I am stumped!
Thank you in advance for any information you might have or any of your Find A Grave friends who read this might have.

Thank you for the kind words!!

The headstone inscription says DOB is May 1, 1911.
The death certificate is unclear. (Someone has written "Don't know" in the space over the date.)
Where are you getting the May 11 date from?

Too bad you don't know about the nasty emails she sent to me prior. Funny how she urged you to send this email...what in the world do you think you are going to accomplish.
