Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've discovered several forgotten graves and small family cemeteries over the years, while involved in my work or hunting, and wanted to list them on Find A Grave. Many of the people buried in these graves are some of the earliest settlers in north Louisiana and deserve our respect and admiration. I'll do my best to see that they are not forgotten.

So sorry there is no record of Susan Pickett Moore's burial that I can locate. I would appreciate it if you would simply add the following as a part of Susan Ann Eliiza Moore Spencer's biography.

Mother:
Susan Ann Pickett Moore (1810-1835), daughter of Martin Pickett, Esq. and Anne "Nancy" Raiford of Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have deleted one. I was in Ruston for a weekend and had a free morning. Guess how I decided to spend it? lol Have a happy Thanksgiving.

I do so appreciate the memorial you created for Ann Eliza Moore Spencer.
Just so you known her full name is Susan Ann Eliza Moore Spencer. She was the daughter of Cornelius Moore and his first wife, Susan Pickett. She was born in Autauga county, Alabama. Her parents married in 1826 in Anson County, North Carolina and moved to Alabama where her mother died in 1835.
She was born November 2, 1834 not 1824. I have the family bible record. I am a descendant of Cornelius Moore. She was raised by her fathers second wife, Margaret McRee née Moore.
She married John J. Spencer in the home of her father in Marengo County, Alabama on Feb 7, 1854.
Her father is buried in Texas, Find A Grave Memorial# 44877776.

Please consider correcting her year of birth to 1834.
Thanks for you help, Pat Brannon

Thank you for taking time to write. It seems there exists a legend to the Zion Hill Cemetery but I was unable to find the person to locate it. It MAY indicate the location of the burials. If so, there may be markers beneath the grass that could confirm your ancestors burial site.
This cemetery has many markers that are presently in danger of being lost as some are flat or have been laid down near where they once stood and are being mowed over and are sinking into the earth. I had to pull grass and wipe away dirt to look for the requested markers.
If I can locate the legend, I will make another attempt at several of the "lost" markers.
I appreciate you mentioning the Goldonna Slaughters and the murder "mystery". I first became aware of the marker when a hunter called randomly, to let just any Slaughter know the location of the stone. Unfortunately, I mislaid the info and it was 15 years before I stumbled upon it here in Find-A-Grave. My first cousin and I are presently trying to find the connection. We are all related, I'm just not sure how yet.
Best of luck to you. I will be in touch.

RE: James Bruce (97277946)

Hi,
I think that you are probably correct. I'm going to Delete James Bruce. Do you know who has the Cemetery Records and contact Info? I'm looking for any information on a James Postell Died on April 4, 1903, who is buried at Cypress Creek. # 97269234. So far I haven't been able to find out ANY information on him.
My GG Grandfather was James W Postell, a Confederate Soldier, Thomas Legion of Highland Rangers and Cherokees. B: 1832 in North Carolina. He had 2 wives and 5 children. He was Andrew Macks Father. He Burial place is unknown. I know this Tombstone only says 41 Years but I'm wondering if this could be him.
No one in the family seems to know anything about this one in Cypress Creek.
Thanks for all the good pictures and information you post as usual.
Regards,
Lee Postell

William H. K. Martin (#37264037)
Hi,
I'm trying to find the parents of my great-great grandfather James Henry Martin (born 22 Jun 1877 in LA). I tracked down William H. K. Martin whose memorial you own and added a photo of. In the 1880 census records he had a 4 yr old son James H. Martin. I was wondering if you had any additional information on William H. K. Martin and his children?
Thanks for any help in the right direction! ~Scarlett Davidson-Flanagan -> ohara720@gmail.com

RE: Carlton Carter
You are so welcome. My parents and many grandparents are buried in that cemetery so when I make the drive up there I try to get a few more photos to add to FindaGrace. Since his was a new one, I snapped a pic not realizing there might have been a photo request for it. This cemetery is very special to me and I am trying to help get it 100% photographed. I appreciate your msg. Of thanks and am glad to give honor to someone you knew. Mary
