PLEASE READ 'HELP WITH FINDAGRAVE.' Some key points that seem frequently missed;
Findagrave's primary mission is Not genealogy. It is to find, record and present final disposition information. Burial locations should not be guessed at. Multiple married names are not entered as maiden names, nor hyphenated last names. "Burial location unknown" is not a catch-all for everyone you don't know where they're buried. This is all addressed under 'HELP WITH FINDAGRAVE.'
1 body, 1 memorial. You should NEVER deliberately create a duplicate memorial and should you inadvertently create one, you should delete it as soon as you become aware of it. To make links, add or correct info, move a memorial to a different cemetery, etc., etc., send a Suggestion to the memorial creator (easily done using the Edit tab). If you don't feel the memorial is being properly attended, you can take that up with Admin, but it is not ok to just create a duplicate. This is not my rule, so please do not attack, insult or attempt to debate it. There is nothing to discuss. After too many rude and frustrating exchanges, I will now send 1 request to delete a duplicate memorial, then request Findagrave Admin. handle those that remain after 30 days. ***************************** I am happy to add info & links and make transfers within findagrave guidelines (see Help with Findagrave). If you had a relationship with someone outside of the guidelines, I may transfer, but it's not required, so please don't be rude (I won't respond to "rude." It will be ignored or reported to Admin). I am unlikely to make such transfers if you manage substantially more memorials than you've entered or contributed photos to (the mission is to record graves, not collect memorials), or if you are very new to Findagrave (as too often, people come on, "collect" memorials, then lose interest and leave memorials without management).
Please do not transfer memorials to me that I haven't asked for. While I appreciate the generous intent, I'm not collecting memorials.
If you've set your profile so that you can not be contacted, then please do not contact me or post anything on memorials I manage. It is frustrating to receive SAC's with incorrect or insufficient information, or to find recent obits posted, wrong or redundant headstones, "flowers" with correction suggestions (not the correct format), etc. and not be able to contact the individual, leaving me only the options of 1) ignoring the SAC, 2) letting improper or misleading items remain or 3) deleting and re-entering the memorial. Communication is a better option.
Please do not post redundant headstone photos or articles that take 2 or 3 .jpgs. It uses up the 5 photo max and does not enhance the memorial. If you would like to post an article (that is out of copyright) and don't know how to make it into one .jpg, feel free to send it to me. I'll combine it and return it to you to post. I'm not concerned with who gets the count. I'm interested in the quality of the memorials.
