If you know of any one memorialized here who served aboard the USS Melvin DD-680 in the Pacific Theatre during WW II, please let me know.|
I'm a transplanted New Englander. My parents are Paul Oscar Avery(1921-2003) and Betty Wheaton Avery(1925-1992). My mom's and aunt's interest in family history was passed to me. I have been doing family history research for over 25 years, most of which has been in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.
I am retired, and live in The Villages, Florida, and would be happy to find and photograph cemetery stones of your friends or family in the Sumter - Lake - Marion County area.
If you find some pictures or monuments I haven't included, I'd love to hear from you when you post them. And corrections or additions to my postings are welcome. All suggestions are responded to within 48 hours unless I am out of town. If you supply me with additional information, I will always research and double check it before posting it to a memorial. There is simply too much inaccurate information out there.
Please use the EDIT button on the memorial to initiate correspondence and recommend updates. I am no longer able to respond to emails that do not provide quick and easy access to the memorial in question. Also, if your e-mail is not provided on your profile page, I won't be able to respond to you if a response is needed. The public messages are not appropriate for back and forth discussion.
Regarding transfers outside guidelines..... I will consider transfer to those who have a proven track record of collaboration on FindAGrave. I have been burned once too many times by new contributors that are subsequently unresponsive. And PLEASE do not demand transfers. If you do, you will be ignored.
I have completed projects on all cemeteries in Hawley, Buckland, Colrain, and Charlemont, Massachusetts. And another in Sears Cemetery in Barnstable County. Current projects include the Jenks Family in Rhode Island, and Shelburne, Franklin Co, Mass cemeteries. If any of my entries connects to your ancestors, let me know.
There are so many "orphan" memorials here on Find-A-Grave, many of which have been posted en masse and then forgotten. So many need identification and linking so we know who they were! I believe that posting a memorial carries with it a duty and responsibility to manage that memorial properly, taking the time to research, identify, and link the memorial properly, along with a willingness to work with others who may also have an interest in that memorial. The vast majority of Find-A-Grave contributors are wonderful collaborators. But, if you add thousands of memorials, be prepared to manage and care for them, and at least have the common courtesy to respond to update/correction requests.

|Linda Newbrough||Samuel Stone III, b. 1684|
Sorry...trying to finish my message.
Anyway, Capt. Samuel Stone, b. 1684...I show his father as SIMON (DEACON) STONE, B. 1656, D.1741, AND HIS MOTHER AS DORCAS JONES, B. 1659, D. 1746. THEN, SIMON'S FATHER AS SAMUEL (DEACON) STONE, B. 1631, D. 1715.
Don't know if this helps or not - perhaps you can check your files again? I've been working on my Stone family line for quite some time, and feel confident in my data.

Hi Kevin, there is a wonderful web site at
If you type Randall in that box where is says surname it will take you to a page with surname search results and if you click on burials you will see Hope's name on the 2nd page and when you click on view it will take you to a page where you can ask for a photo.
All photos are free.
Just like to pass the word on about this site!!

Can you please help me with directions to the cemetery? My sister & I will be trying to find it later this month. When we visited in the past my father knew the way and we didn't write the directions down. Thank you.

|One of the Barnards||RE: Clinton E Barnard|
In our Family Tree he is listed as Clinton Elthue Barnard. The tree is older that I and I am 75. There are no sources but the tree.
Hi Kevin, You're welcome. I just happened to come across her while I was photographing random graves. When I put her info in I was surprised that she popped up on someone's request list. Happy to be of help to you!

|Nancy Painthorse Salisbury||Salisbury|
Hey kevin, William and Susannah Salisbury are also my 8GGrandparents, the source that I had used on Susannah Cotton was ancestry.com. She had showed up from member trees and she was a hint there, so I did assume that, that was her maiden name. Her son is John Salisbury, he was the 20 year old son that was murdered along with his father and 9 other poor souls. I have been out the the memorial site out in Swansea, Mass, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts had placed that memorial in 1912. All the names are placed on that memorial to honor the men lost. I may be in error on Susannah, as I don't have conclusive evidence of correct information, though I doubt the Commonwealth of Massachusetts would place all of their names if that information was incorrect. Will change Susannah Cotton info, although if conclusive information is found, it will be placed correct.
|Sarah Xavier||Morse Family|
I just added some photos of the Morse Family stone at Elmwood cemetery in Holyoke MA. I also submitted a change for Samuel Morse's birth year (based on the date on the stone). I also created memorials for Samuel and Mary's two children also buried there - Frank S. (#133053847) and Florence E. (#133053887) and linked them back to the parents. I'm happy to transfer these two new memorials to you if you like. I know you will find that I'm new to findagrave but I promise I'm not a flake. I found/joined the site after the recent death of my mother and I'm really enjoying it so far!
