I'm in the process of adding a source to the Fredericksburg National Cemetery monuments. Until I finish, it's listed in the book Civil War Burials Fredericksburg Virginia,compiled and edited by Maude E. Mercer Sellman 1979.
It's a shame that a few nasty people sometimes seem to overshadow the (thank goodness) overwhelming majority of nice people on this wonderful site that can help others wishing to honor their family, ancestors, friends or learn more about their family history!

| Gideon Holmes Memorial
Gideon deserted on January 15, 1863 at Fairfax Station, VA. He died April 18, 1863 at the U.S. Army Hospital at Aquia VA.
