Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been researching my family since I was a teenager. Of course, my family lines have been little researched so it makes the work a little more challenging. But I like a good challenge. I volunteer to take pictures for Find A Grave in Fredericksburg City, Spotsylvania Co., King George Co., Caroline County, Stafford Co. and where else I go. My family surnames are: Reed (Reid, Read), Sells, Ashton, Smith, Greene, Roush, Bottorff, Sissell (Cecil), Sayres, Luker, DeHaven, Reading, etc. I research all the family lines. My family tree begins in Loudoun Co. Virginia. From there they moved to Ohio (Guernsey Co., Washington Co., Muskingum Co., Noble Co.). At this point 2 brothers leave Ohio when Oklahoma opens up to settlers (El Reno, OK). One of the brothers leaves Oklahoma and moves to Springfield, MO (Green Co.) and then finally staying in Howell Co., MO until death. According to one of the old history books, the Smith line was from Chester Co., PA. I found members of one line in Allegheny Co., PA and from there they went to Washington Co., OH. One Smith line moved to Grant Co., WVa and they died there. I have found documents (birth, death, marriage, & passenger lists) for the John Reading family. That line was originally from Wales. Still working on the rest especially the Ashton line.

Brooks relationship
Thank you for taking and posting the photos of the headstones for Susie Olens BROOKS and Decatur Thompson BROOKS. I do have a question regarding the relationship. Posted on this site says they're married BUT I believe they are sister and brother. Did you see paperwork that stated they were married? Thank you again your time is very much appreciated. Jeannette

RE: Mary Ann Craig Sprong
Hi Leslyn, no I'm not related to Mary Ann Sprong. I took many headstone photos in that particular cemetery and would be happy to transfer her memorial to you.

Sorry about the first two "messages". My computer has a mind of its own. Besides Francis and Margaret, the Craig plot also has buried in it, Annie, Charles, Columbus, George and Lorrie. I posted photos for everyone that has a memorial.

RE: Burchett Woodruff Cemetery Question
I have found John Burchett's stone lying in this cemetery, and it does say 100 yrs. There is no stone for Nancy Burchett, who was John's daughter-in-law. (Her maiden name was Hatcher).I will gladly share my latest findings on this Burchett line, but I need a better way to contact you. Are you a member on If so, I will contact you there.

RE: Nancy Burchett
I agree that William Burchett and Catherine "Kitty" Davis were from Virginia - but unless there is a birth record - or another primary source - Loudoun County as a birth place is just a good guess.
I have seen many family trees which put William as the son of John Burchett - but no one has included actual proof - although it is a good guess. Clearly the Washington County Burchetts are all related - but exactly how, I think is still to be proven.
Josiah Burchett's parentage is another question that I can not find anything other than the mention of Eli Janney as a "foster" father.
My grandmother was born in Marietta and we still have many cousins in Washington County that I visit often. Josiah and Sarah's daughter America Burchett Gilmore Woodruff Beebe was my great3-grandmother.
Good luck with your research. Please feel free to contact me at

You left two edits for William Burchett - which I am happy to make - but I would like to know your sources. I have been researching my ancestors for decades and have not found a birth record to prove Loudoun County as a birth place. The same for William Burchett's middle name. I know his grandson was named William Thomas - but what source states that the grandfather was also named William Thomas?

RE: Burr Reed Memorial
Not a problem. Please use the "edit" and "suggest a correction" to request a transfer. It will send me an email with all the information I need, including a link to the memorial. An, feel free to request away. I am not related to anyone in this area and will be glad to transfer. Thanks!

RE: James J Weekley
Your question is a good one and the best that I can offer is that others have used Jeffer and I accepted it without proof. However, since you questioned the name, I feel it was probably Jefferson and Jeffer became his nickname and not his middle name. I have not tried to get the proof as you have.

Thanks for your concern.

Sarah Jane Weekley married my grandfathers brother Robert Allen Lewis.

RE: Kelly Memorials
Leslie Send a request to the person that has the Memorial and ask them to transfer if to you, and if they won't then go to Find A Grave and ask them about the transfer of the Memorial to you. You should be able to have these Memorials and make the proper corrections.
