Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Mike Daley and I am the great-great grandson of Mose Slaton Nunley. Mose established the Nunley Family Cemetery off of what today is called Airport Road on his land in Iuka, Mississippi around 1900 due to some type of family disagreement regarding the original Carpenter/Nunley Cemetery where his father William Nunley was buried.

My grandmother, Minnie Hilda Bacon was raised by Mose and his third wife Myra Jane until she was approximately six years old. My grandmother's mother, Minnie Alice Nunley Bacon is buried at the Nunley Family Cemetery.

My grandmother first took me to visit this cemetery in 1966 when I was a boy and many times thereafter. At the time I did not appreciate the family history nor legacy that was there but today I understand and have the same strong feelings. She died in 2005 so I am carrying on the tradition of placing flowers on her mother's grave site.

I have taken my son, daughter and granddaughter to the cemetery and hope that they too will understand the importance of our family history.

RE: Elizabeth & William Zappen at Holy Cross Cemetery
You are welcomed.. Holy Cross is a very interesting cemetery because it has many hills and a beautiful view of Los Angeles. It is very well groomed.

Hi again Mike, the memorials have been moved to the correct cemetery. Can you move the tombstone photos to the other memorials please if that is not to much trouble and then delete the other memorials. Thanks for the trouble and understanding. I hate asking for this kind of stuff since I know it's awkward. Thanks again.

RE: Robert Hill & Ernest Casper at Nunley Cemetery
Hi Mike,
There are two graves which appear to be the only ones left at the cemetery that are not properly identified. One has a very rusted temporary grave marker similar to the "Will" George and then one that is marked with two "stones". I wonder if you contacted Cutshall funeral home in Iuka, Mississippi if they could tell you where they are interred as that was the name of the funeral home for Will George and if memory serves it was on the other rusted temporary marker that the glass had broken out of so the paper was gone. If it helps, the layout in the cemetery has the grave with the two stones, Will George, and then the last with the very rusted temporary marker all in a row. If you knew for certain that they are buried in the Nunley cemetery that would almost certainly be them. I only live about 20 miles away so if you get any kind of confirmation that those could be them I will be glad to go back out there. I actually seem to still have the photo of the older grave with the two stones but must have deleted the one of the completely rusted temp marker.

Nunley Cemetery
Hi Mike,
We went out to the Nunley Cemetery yesterday. We ran into some problems. We found what we think is the marker for Will? George but it is only a rusted temporary grave marker with the age 58 years 2 months 12 days visible. It was put in by Cutshall? Funeral Home. We weren't sure if we were really making out the word George or if it was wishful thinking. I have a photo of this marker. This grave-site was in between two others one that had a completely rusted temporary marker with no identifiable marks and a smaller grave-site marked at the head and foot with stones with no identifiable marks. These grave-sites were located after you enter the cemetery and to the right on their own row. This is an extremely small cemetery so if you can verify the location of the graves you are looking for in the cemetery I would be glad to go back and re-shoot a photo of the grave-site even with no marker. Hope this helps you out some. If you want me to send or post the pictures of the temporary markers I will be glad to do that. Sherry

RE: Cleveland McVay at Morris Hill Cemetery
Great! Glad to help. Wish could have gotten a clearer picture of name but stone was very weather worn.

Cleveland McVay
Hi Mike,
We went out to the Morris Hill Cemetery today. We found a Cleveland McVay born in April 19,1885 but this boy died in Aug 1886. Not sure if this is the one you are looking for since the death year is different. On the grave stone it says son of Zedack and Adelphia McVay. If you think this is the correct one I will be glad to upload this picture. There were several other McVay's located in this section of the cemetery including Zedack.

Hello Mike, I have found information that Julia Hargrove Lambert is buried in Tuscumbia Cemetery but she is not listed there, Is it possible that she just is not on the list. If you have any information let me know and thanks. Pam Mauldin.

E W Jacobs photo
Mr. Daley,

Wished to say thank you for taking the photograph on the memorial below and to ask your permission to use it on my family tree. This is, I believe, my third great uncle Edward Wesley Jacobs:

Also, where in McNairy is Eureka Cemetery?
