Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi! Please take a moment to stop by and visit my Dad, he died June 13, 2013 and I miss him terribly.

Thank you so much to everyone who leaves flowers for Dad! It means a lot to me to know he's remembered.

If you have a few moments, stop on by to visit some of my family, they're all very dear to me!

Grandma and Grandpa Gantley, I can't believe they've been gone so long. Aunt Eileen, too, who was total awesomesauce. Jeff was married to my cousin, he was always a lot of fun and we were shocked when he left us so suddenly. My Uncle Denny joined them just this January.

Q & Ra are my birds, I miss them screeching to greet me when I get home and the joy of their company.

The Black Turken is the bird in my profile picture

I've always enjoyed looking for graves and hunting for cemeteries. This has also extended to peoples' virtual cemeteries, I go through a lot of them. It's always interesting, like those in the real world. (I should also mention I love reading peoples screen names, too, some are so cute, clever, or otherwise interesting!)

I've visited most of the graves I've listed here and but I AM NOT related to most of them, if you want to edit/add a bio. on anyone I've listed please contact me and I will be happy to do so. I'd also be happy to transfer memorial ownership.

I wish that all the memorials on here had a bit of a bio, an obit, a note from family or a scrap from a newspaper. So that you, the reader, could have even a tiny glimpse into the life that is gone. Same with family links, it makes me sad so many memorials have no links, no bios, no flowers. I have been working at finding out anything I can for everyone I've added, but so many of these people are simply a mystery.
A while ago someone asked me why I do this, why do I spend time in cemeteries, taking pictures of graves, researching families that aren't my own, adding them here, linking and transferring, talking to people and finding out more. Ask me every day and I imagine I'd have a different answer every one, but in the end it boils down to love. I love what I do, and I love my family, and know that everyone was once loved, loved others, and just because they have died doesn't mean that they don't deserve the love of the living, even if it isn't a relative or friend.

Sites that are a huge wealth of information!

Death is beautiful when seen to be a law, and not an accident - It is as common as life.
~Henry David Thoreau

Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived wisely.

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
~1 Corinthians 15:55

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
~ John 15:13

Death is a delightful hiding place for weary men.

"Mayst thou rest soundly and quietly, and may the light turf lie easy on thy bones."
~Albius Tibullus

"My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today."
~Richard Adams, Watership Down

It seemed to Hazel that he would not be needing his body any more, so he left it lying on the edge of the ditch, but stopped for a moment to watch his rabbits and to try to get used to the extraordinary feeling that strength and speed were flowing inexhaustibly out of him into their sleek young bodies and healthy senses. "You needn't worry about them," said his companion. "They'll be all right--and thousands like them. If you'll come along, I'll show you what I mean." He reached the top of the bank in a single, powerful leap. Hazel followed; and together they slipped away, running easily down through the wood, where the first primroses were beginning to bloom.

Grave # 73828860

I'm looking into my husband's family and working on his family tree. I just found his great-great grandfather, William Miner, which is the grave number listed above. I noticed the middle name is different but everything else matches up to what I have. I see you maintain his profile. I noticed too that you also maintain his son's profile as well. His son's name is Leroy M. Miner, grave#73828724. I sent you a suggested edit for William Miner's middle initial which should be "B" instead of "D". If you go to his son's profile you will see the obit shows his father having the "B" initial for the middle name as well. If you'd like, I can also send you a private email with the census I have showing the connection with the correct middle initial. Thank you for all you do with maintaining these graves and giving family members a sense of connection to loved ones.

We corresponded back about 3 years ago on Abel Easton. I provided some info on him. I should have added that he is Abel Easton II. I was looking him up today on Find A Grave & couldn't find him under Easton. I found him under Eason - no "t" this is incorrect. His wife Huldah's last name is listed on Find A Grave as Eastman which is also wrong.
The name of the cemetery is confusing to me. All the info I have it as Brown's Landing. I believe Brown is the name of the people buried in the fenced in area. I found this under Richland in the cemeteries of Oswego Co., N.Y. The address was between co rte. 5 & Salmon River, east of rte. 3 intersection, on river bank. It didn't list the township. I could not find Eastman-Smith Family Family listed anywhere. Are these families buried here also? Thank you for any help. Martha

Sorry, I forgot to mention that John McMahon (1837-1862) is grave #8 and Burnette Lacquer (d. 13 Feb 1863) is grave # 10 if you're looking at the map posted by Sue S. with the Cemetery photos. I don't know if you live near there, but just in case you're interested in it. ~Camillia

Fort Ontario Post Cemetery
Hello :)

All of the 77 known graves in this cemetery are accounted for except John McMahon (1837-1862) and Burnette Lacquer (d. 13 Feb 1863). These two may be the extra 2 unknown soldiers. Both of these men are listed in U.S. Military Burial Registers, 1768-1921 for the Post Cemetery at Fort Ontario.

There is 1 duplicate done by someone else, which brings the count to 78.

Thank you for your hard work & thank you for putting up with my OCD :)
