I misspoke, it's not Dorothy Copeland's stone that's unreadable but the stone simply marked Copeland.

Sunrise Cemetery
I've been coming across the messages you left with flowers on memorials at Sunrise Cem. I wondered if you knew that Mary Reagan buried there was also a sister of Susannah. Also John Wesley Ragsdale's wife Elender Jane was Mary Reagan's daughter. John Wesley Ragsdale and James Oliver Bookout (my ggg-grandfather) were next door neighbors and died on the same day during the flu epidemic of the spring of 1891. John Wesley's wife Elender Jane (Reagan) Ragsdale died the following weekend. There is also a child named Benjamin Beeler buried there who died that same month. There are also a couple of people over in McHaffie Cemetery who died in that flu epidemic during 1891. I am relatively sure that James Oliver "Jimmy" Bookout is buried at Sunrise but his grave is not marked with a readable stone. When I was there in 1978 there were several stones with no markings and 4 or 5 more with crude scratchings that were no longer readable. After looking at all of the gravestone pictures for Sunrise there are only two that are of a similar nature, James Cornelison's and Dorothy Copeland's. Jimmy Bookout's 158 acre land patent lay mostly on the south side of the Finley at Sherrow Bridge. His father John had two 40s on the north side of Finley at Sherrow Bridge. Everyone buried in marked graves at Sunrise prior to the flu epidemic were small children except James Cornelison and Mary Reagan (Mary died 1890). Do you know who were the parents of George W. Bookout (1879-1879)? James Marion Bookout has a son named George (1886-1982). The only possibilities I can come up with (unless he was the illegitimate son of a Bookout female) would be William Elvis Bookout or William Emerson Bookout. My granddad Bench's sister Lena (Bench) Conley gave me a list of William Elvis's children and there is no George listed. She was the family historian for the Bench side of my family and was always quite thorough. Her husband John Conley was the son of William Elvis's daughter Sarah Arena (Bookout) Conley. She did have listed William Elvis's illegitimate son Berry Bookout. Do you know that story?

RE: Transfers
Hi Rick, if you commented on a memorial I had, I am sending them home to others. As when I die, (not planning on this for awhile, but who knows!) I want others to have these memorials. You are very welcome.

Willis & Jane Burks
I read the info you left with the headstone photo on Jane's memorial. I just wanted you to know that I agree that her death date is incorrect. I have also viewed the 1880 census and she was alive and well after the date on the stone.

Best regards,
Debbie.

RE: Valentine Criger
Hi, sorry its taken me so long to reply, , I didnt know where you found that I stated that William Lane brought Valentine home, but I found it on a bio on find a grave. I didnt write the bio, it was all ready there when I took over. I really dont know who brought him home, Ive always been told that Valentine was shot in the back, here in Webster Co there was several people killed just for not being on the right side.
Sorry I cant be of any help with that.

RE: Valentine Criger
Hi Where is the Gratiot Prison located at.
I have always believed that Valentine was killed in Greene or Webster Co's.
I have heard stories that Green Pendergrass was also killed in Greene Co, right on the Greene-Webster Co line.
Thanks Cathy
