Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been working genealogy for over 25 years.

The web address is not my personal home page its where I spend most of my time.
My email is; marinersknoll(at)

If you are interested in one of the memorials, at St. Joseph's OLD Cemetery, Wayland, NY, please send me an email with the name of the person you are requesting included. I will get back to you as soon as I can. I have photographed all of the headstones in the cemetery and with the exception of persons still living, ALL are posted on the memorial. If there isn't a photo on the memorial of a headstone, there isn't a headstone for that person. Plot numbers for this cemetery are not recorded anywhere except with ME. So if you need info about a plot number, please feel free to ask me.
First digit is the section number 1-4. Sections are numbered East to West starting at Deiter Rd.
Next 2 digits are the row number, also numbered East to West, except for section 4 which the rows are numbered North to South from State Route 63.
The 4th digit is 1 or 2 letters. If there are more than 24 graves in a row there are 2 letters and the first is either A or B. (I & O are skipped). Headstones in each row are number from the driveway across back of the cemetery, toward State Route 63 except section 4. Where graves are lettered West to East starting from the backside of section 3.
If there is another digit at the end of the plot number, there are more than 2 names/graves on the same headstone or in the plot. Again, if you have a question about plot numbers, please email ME. NB: The Parish Office has NO info about plot numbers at this cemetery.

In St. Joseph's New Cemetery & St. Pius V New Cemetery in Cohocton, the plots are numbered simply Sect ... Then a Roman Numeral .. I. II, III, ect. Then a one - three digit number for the site & last the grave number. In St. Joseph's they go from 1 thru 8. At St.Pius they are numbered sequentially thru the section.

RE: Mother of Glenn Randall
It is Gladys Randall. I don't know if I typed the wrong number by mistake. I had written the number down, and maybe wrote it wrong. I apologize for my mistake. Gladys Randall was my Grandmother, and Glenn Randall was her son, and my Uncle.

Again, sorry for my error. However, until you updated it, I had not realized my mistake.

I would like to use the marker photos you posted for Ralph Smith at and PFC William P Smith at to post on our memorial page for William at

I am in the process of updating William's page and wish to show both markers as a tribute to the service in the Military for father and son.

Yes it was a rare mild winter day in Illinois -
I went to the cemetery to fulfill a photo request because I knew right where it would be, and while I was there looked around to see if there were any new headstones since I haven't been there in a couple of years. I'm glad one of them was Father Rudolph.

Born circa 1940
Died September 17, 1960

Funeral services will be held today for two of three youths killed in an auto crash on Route 36, near the entrance to Stony Brook State Park, early Saturday morning.

Killed when the car smashed into a clump of trees at 12:45 a.m. are:

Robert Hoffman, 20, of Dansville R.D. 3, driver of the car, Martin Ryan, 20, of Bath, son of John Ryan of Dansville.

Barbara Ringer, 18, of Prattsburg who had been employed at the Westinghouse Plant in Dansville.

Another passenger in the car, Margaret Jane Whitehead, 17, of Bath escaped injury. She was taken to Dansville Memorial Hospital for treatment of multiple abrasions and released the next morning.

A prayer service will be held for Hoffman at 8:30 a.m. today in the Chamberlin Funeral Home, followed by Requiem Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Wayland. The Rev. John Merklinger will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Wayland.

A Requiem Mass will be said at St. Mary’s Church, Bath, at 10 a.m. today. The Rev. John P. O’Malley will officiate and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dansville.

Miss Ringer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ringer of Prattsburg.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Covell and Mrs. Walter Billings, both of Bath; three brothers, Pfc. Donald Ringer who is serving with the U.S. Army in Italy, Terry and Danny at home; her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Eva DeWitt of Prattsburg; several aunts and uncles.

The body is at the Baird Funeral Home in Dansville, where a service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Morris Cornwall of the Wyoming Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Clearview Cemetery in North Cohocton.

State Trooper W. J. Rectenwald of the Wayland substation who investigated the crash, said the car had forced another auto and a tractor and trailer off the road before it crashed into the trees.

The unidentified driver of the car forced off the highway told Rectenwald he estimated Hoffman’s vehicle was traveling more than 80 mph at the time of the crash. The car, which was completely demolished traveled more than 200 feet on the shoulder of the road before smashing into the trees in front of the home of Ewald Hinz.

Assisting Rectenwald with the investigation was Sgt. Glenn Bovee and Officer Robert LaForce of the Dansville police force. (DB, September 20, 1960, p1)
