I am an avid family historian for over 30 years and a native Montanan. When I was working on my MA thesis in History ("Myron Brinig's Butte: Jews in the Wide Open Town"), I spent a summer transcribing the information from the graves at the B'Nai Israel cemetery in Butte (my home town).
Family names I am researching include:
Wilson - McWhirter
Chartier/Carter - Neveu
Bertrand - Kuether
Sutherland - Sollars
Brittain - McMinn
Vance - Cole
Douthitt - Moore
Dillworth - Stilwell
Find a Grave is not a scholarly website. I think it has many purposes including providing catharsis and aiding with the grieving process, helping people with their family history, connecting relatives, remembering the dead, finding burial sites, etc. Those who think it is only for locating graves have a narrow imagination.
Sometimes all we know about a family member is what is printed in an old biography or what someone told us. This acts as a foundation for finding, correcting, adding to their history. I believe this should be a friendly collaborative process where we build together a story as we find more information. I will make mistakes. Feel free to let me know and I will correct.
My philosophy on transfers is simple - I believe memorials should be in the hands of relatives, even if not close relatives. I am happy to transfer, in fact I am waiting for the relatives of the B'Nai Israel and St. Patrick's cemetery memorials to contact me to care for their family memorials. I'm happy to transfer to relatives.

You have a note that no headstone was found for this man. I ran across a headstone for him yesterday in St. Patrick's cemetery. I found a note in the Cemetery records that he was moved from AOH Block 421 to Block 341 Lot 1. That is where I found his headstone.
|Debbie Hogue||Might be a relative to Joseph Bertrand|
I was visiting Colonial Michilimackinac state park MI Fort and came across his name in the baptismal record. I am also a Bertrand from Quebec Canada, ansestor to Henry Bertrand/Amanda Bertrand who lived in Jefferson South Dakota. Just wanted to see if I was related to Joe.

Hi, I was wondering if you could transfer the controls of the memorials of Adolph Reichle and Theresa Reichle to me. I would really appreciate it. If you don't want to that's fine but it would make it a lot easier for me in editing details and adding their relationships. Thanks
|Angela Harlan||could you please transfer my uncle Robert Harlan to me?|

Thank you so very much for accepting the edit to link Benjamin Swecker #37262513 to his parents.
I would be pleased if you would go to my Bio and visit my parents' memorials by clicking on their links.

Pam: Perhaps a new gravestone was put in place years after the death of Thomas (the headstone looks quite new for someone dying in 1914) and the dates were remembered incorrectly. Can't explain it. On many stones placed years after the death, birth dates are estimated by the age. You might want to put a note on the bottom of the memorial re the discrepancy.

Thank you for the transfer Pam. I've since found another memorial for her where she is in the Old Congregational Cemetery. I do not know where the person got her info as I have been unable to find any death and or burial info on Sarah. So I guess I have to check this out now. I really appreciate the transfer and thanks again for all you do on this site

|Frank Leighton||Charles Easton|
I believe this Charles Easton, son of John Easton & Annie Mands, born in 1880`s, married Mary Jane Leighton. I do not have his dates - but I have a photo of this couple (Charles & Mary Jane) taken in Knightswood, Glasgow about the 1950`s.
