Oh... you meant mother Susan Linn who is recorded as dying in Ithaca in 1824.

I also have no record for her burial.

The burial cards for many of the dead at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands, New York has one for Simeon and it says that his body was moved there in 1857.

A lot of the records cards were made from evidence found on the lot, so if Susan was buried without a stone or the stone disappeared or disintegrated before they made the cards.... no record would have been made.

I looked through all of the DeWitt cards and Susan is not mentioned.

Also... regarding SImeon:
First buried in Ithaca, NY where he died. In 1844 remains moved to vault under Albany Middle Dutch church. His remains were moved to the Rural Albany Cemetery in 1857.

So maybe Susan's fate was similar?

My records in ancestry.com lists Susan Linn as born on 03 Sep 1811 in Ithaca, NY and dying in Milwaukee, WI on 1 Apr 1849.

Your story about the librarian is hilarious!

thanks

Don

I plan on taking photos of the remaining family members today when the lighting is better. The other stones are very hard to read.

By the way, I am a member of the First Congregational Church shown in one of the photos on her memorial. You can see in the photo that the steeple has a slight tilt which has never been corrected.

Oh my head! What a truly unique cemetery that was, which makes it extra sad that they had the stones removed when they left the area. Thank you for the link to that postcard. Couldn't believe the price... it must be very rare. I didn't even come close to picturing it in my head from the descriptions.

Sad about Henry too, and you are probably right about why and how he ended up with the Shakers. What a horrific experience for someone so young. I'm glad you knew where he was buried and are making a memorial for him so he isn't forgotten.

I checked out the memorials for Henry and Maria and was so surprised to read about the Shaker Cemetery where Henry is buried! So weird they would remove all the headstones and even weirder to think that it is against the law to stop at that cemetery. Wow.

The only one I ever heard worst than that was that they used the headstones from cemeteries for fill and sea walls in the Golden Gate Bridge area in CA. Then one of my own grandfathers way back was buried in 1850 in the TN State Prison cemetery which is now under a strip mall. Sad to think how many people's graves have been disrespected in this country in the name of progress.

RE: Abner Norcott Family
Okay I sent a request to Connie to link Abner Jr to his parents. She stays on top of her edit requests and does them very quickly, so they will be linked soon.

I don't have any info on Abner Sr's other children, because I wasn't really researching that family. So if you have info and know where they were buried you can go ahead and make their memorials, if you'd like.

RE: Charlotte Blodgett
Thank you so much for letting me know her parents names. I like to have as much accurate info as possible to help people find their relatives. I linked Charlotte to her parents and sent a link request to have Abner Dick Norcott linked to his parents.

Thank you again,
Shirley
