Bio

Howdy neighbors, my name is "J.R." Richardson. In my younger years I was always too busy having fun or working to pay attention to, or ask questions about my ancestors. Now in my older years, after it's too late to ask those questions, I find myself desperately wanting to know more about my past ancestry. And also to pass on this information to my Kids, GrandKids and Great GrandKids,so they will not have to wonder who their ancestors were, how they lived and where they came from .

***************************************
I live in the "Entertainment Capitol of the world"; : Las Vegas, Nevada. I enjoy Genealogy which is what led me to this site. Actually, one day while doing some research on my Uncle Marvin (My Father's Oldest Brother)on an ancestry site, there was his name, as a link, at the bottom of the page, so I clicked on it, it went to Google and his name was there as one of the listings that said, "Find A Grave.com" with it, so I clicked on it and the rest is history. I think this is a great place to honor and remember our loved ones. And to share genealogy information.

*************************************

Some ancestors had a magic way
Of leaving trails to climb each day
They had a goal and climbed with care
Faith gave them dreams and a home most fair
So from a land across the sea
They came to a land most promised to be
And lived their lives happy and free
They gave us freedom and a heritage great
Anchoring our souls from a cruel fate
Great thrills and joys their stories bring
Of the lives they lived and the songs they sing
God grant that I may useful be
And meet these dear ones in Eternity

WE ARE THE CHOSEN:

We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us, "Tell our story!" So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying, "I can't let this happen." The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish, how they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth. Without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are they and they are the sum of who we are. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take my place in the long line of family storytellers. That is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and restore the memory or greet those whom we had never known before.

Use the SAC, Suggest A Correction method when requesting a transfer.
( NOTE:: As of Jan 1, 2019
I will adhere to the Find A Grave Transfer Policy. )
Because in the past I have had problems with NON-DIRECT Relatives of Deceased's Memorial Pages.

The following info, is taken directly from Find a Grave Policy information pages.

NOTE : AS PER FIND A GRAVE POLICY:: How do I get a Direct Relative Transferred to Me ?

FIRST...... Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Only request a transfer if you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without the need to manage a memorial.

SECOND....Transfer requests will be for Direct Relatives within Four Generations. This would be your spouse, siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

THIRD....If you have extensive additions or changes to make to a memorial, contact the memorial manager via the 'Suggest other Corrections' link under the 'Suggest Edits' button on the memorial in question with your request to have the memorial transferred to you. This will send an email request to the member, even if there is not an email address listed on their profile.

FOURTH....Always explain your relationship in the request! Any NON-DIRECT RELATIVES:: (AUNTS,UNCLES,COUSINS, etc) are NOT a REQUIRED TRANSFER. Keep in mind that the memorial manager may also be related to the memorial and may not make the transfer. You may also want to include your specific interest in the memorial.

***************************************

1. Click on the EDIT tab at upper right of memorial.

2. Click on "Suggest a Correction" link

3. Type in box you would like a transfer of this memorial to you, listing Your Find A Grave Member ID Number.

4. Click on the "Send this message" button

I will then receive your message telling me you want me to transfer this memorial to you. I will then transfer it to you, providing it is within the Four Generations of the Find a Grave Policy.

A couple of tips if you would like volunteer photographers like myself to take cemetery photo requests for you. First, if possible, include the grave location -- one way to learn a grave location is to phone the cemetery; if a cemetery with thousands or even tens of thousands of graves has 20 photo requests and the volunteer has only an hour or two to take photographs, we are likely to select first the requests that include the grave location. Second, if you want multiple photographs (e.g., husband and wife), list both/all of them; we volunteers feel we are more helpful the more pictures we take, so we are likely to choose first a pair of requests.

Thanks, and have an awesome day.

Genealogy is my Past time
I shall not stray
It maketh me to lie down
And examine half-buried tombstones
It leadeth me into still courthouses
It restoreth my Ancestral Knowledge
It leadeth me into the Paths of Census Records
And ships Passenger lists for my names sake
Yes, though I wade through the Shadows of Research Libraries
and Microfilm Readers
I shall fear no Discouragement
For a Strong urge is with me
The curiosity and Motivation
They comfort me
It demandeth preparation of Storage Space
For the Acquisition of Countless Documents
It annointeth my Head with burning Midnight Oil
My family Group sheet runneth over
Surely birth, marriage and death dates
Shall follow me all the Days of my Life
And I shall dwell in the House of a
Family History Seeker Forever.

I wish to express my gratitude to all those very kind and genealogy conscious people who add the links and make the changes I have suggested.

Maiden names for the women is especially important and will aid all future researchers. Family names for the women often get lost when they marry. Listing 1st and 2nd husbands also is very important.

My goal is to link all family members together: parents, spouses and children. This will enable any and all researchers to find family members and complete their research for all generations. Future generations will then be able to connect with their past.

Due to many conflicts of interest from family members, we will no longer accept information from a F.A.G. VISITOR.

A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum. I stopped at a cemetery and my life has never been the same. Someone, long ago, predicted my fascination about burial plots. It seems on the day I was born, my parents looked gravely at me. The doctor picked me up by the heels and slapped my mother and made her cry. Life started out not quite right! Thus I went to cemeteries and became a grave whisperer.

There's an angel on my shoulder,
Though I've never heard her sing,
I know she keeps me safe each day
And close beneath her wing.
My angel does not
Play a harp or rest
In clouds all day.
She's much too busy
Guarding me,
Keeping me from
Harm's way.
She rejoices in
My life's success
And weeps when
I'm in pain.
She picks me up
When I have failed
And helps me try again.
Tonight I'll say a prayer for her,
And thank the Lord above
For sending me an angel
To lead me with her love.
