I am part of a project to research the history, "residents" and eventually to record all inscriptions in Gravesend Cemetery, Kent. I am happy to take photo requests for this cemetery as I am a frequent visitor there. I am always interested to hear from anyone with any information about interesting people buried there, (they certainly don't have to be "famous"!)

I am always willing to transfer ownership of my memorials to relatives.

G E Skeats Pvt - Addlestone
I have a question about the headstone for G E Skeats headstone shown on the site from a photograph stated as submitted by JS - do you know any history of the stone? I ask as I was searching for George William Skeats Pvt - Died 5/2/1919. his army number was 331372 as per the British Army WWI Medal Rolls Index Cards, 1914-1920 for George W Skeats. I'm wondering how I can find out why the headstone is G E Skeats as all other information is correct.

Edward Carr
HeyJS I actually found out a little more about him... across the top of the stone says: 1024493 WO II ESM..." The number was his Royal Artillery service number and he was a Warrant Officer Class II... not sure what ESM was.

Cheers!
