Shawn LaCoe
Agree with what you had sent me. Shawn was quite a colorful young man who I had know since birth. His father was in the service with my husband and we knew the family.
Thanks and sorry it took me so long to write you back.

Hoeltzel bio
Thank you very much for the correction. I did not have the info at the time I made the memorial. I might have forgotten so I'm glad for your help in the heads up.
Many thanks,

RE: Declined SAC
But I'm not talking about a title. I agree with you on that. I was a Spec 4 but that is not what I am now. But I would want the transcription of my army marker including my rank to be shown, as that is my accomplishment.

RE: Declined SAC
I totally agree that the rank is not used with their name (if they had not retired with rank) , which I fight a losing battle trying to tell someone else that. But the military marker can and should be used to show the rank, branch of service, medals, etc that is shown on the marker.

Declined SAC
May I ask why you are declining my changes to add the military marker transcriptions? The military marker is a great example of showing what their service was!

“Add marker transcription” is to be used for words, phrases, or sentences that are found on the headstone, other than the person’s name or birth and death dates. Examples of these would be “Loving mother”, “Here my love lies”, Served in Company 212, etc

Project help
Hi, Donna and Phil my name is Nikolai Thompson and I was wondering if either of you knew James Robert Smith as it seems you put together his virtual grave.

I attend Westlake High School and our English class is reading The Things They Carried and we are beginning a project memorializing servicemen whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. We are commemorating lost servicemen, and I received Corporal James Smith's name.

I was just trying to contact you in case you knew him to see if you would be willing to share any memories, experiences or photos you have of him that I can include in my memorial to make it more personal.

If you would like to see similar projets to the one I'm working on and where my memorial will eventually be posted, please visit Also please feel free to contact my teacher, Rebecka Stucky at

Thank you very much for your time,
Nikolai Thompson

RE: Gladys Darnell
Thank you very much for updating your memorial for Gladys Darnell. I understand that it's preferable to keep the earliest memorial when there are duplicates. When I notice duplication .. I try to point it out to both memorial owners and let them work it out among themselves.

I did submit some edits to link her to her parents.
Her maiden name was Drake and her mother's maiden name was Slead.
Her husband would have been 3rd cousin or so to my husband, so not a close relation.

Thank you! - Ellen M

Martha Pauline (Elkins) Bodmer
Would you please transfer Martha Bodmer over to me (1943-2015). She is my mother. The obituary you posted were the words that I wrote and the picture you posted I took with my own camera. I was waiting to post this myself when I was ready. Kind of a surprise to see it done by a total stranger.

Thank you for your consideration.
