Bio and Links
Bio Photo Simply enjoy genealogy and preserving history.

I make mistakes if you tell me, I will fix them.

If they are family, I will gladly transfer.

My aim is to honor the past. Items added to biographies are typically information I receive via email from unknown contributors and post to memorial. I do NOT fact check so take it for what it's worth...further research.

THE STORY TELLERS by unknown
We are the chosen. My feelings are, in each family, there is one who seems
called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live
again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and
approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but,
instead, breathing life into all those who have gone before. We are the
storytellers of the tribe. All tribes have one.
We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before
cry out to us: Tell our story.

Hey Carol,

Would you mind transferring Find A Grave Memorial# 32417781 to me if you aren't related. James is my 4th great grandfather.
Thanks,

Allie Felkel Gibbs
Hi Carol,
I am looking for any information or sources for Allie's parents and brother/uncle. I also thought you might want to know that the Gilchrist twins at this cemetery are her children. Their father was Leigh Reed Gilchrist her first husband. I am a descendant and I am trying to trace back her parents, so I would love to contact your story source. Thank you for the information you have listed and the photos. We knew she was there but I have never been able to travel down to see the cemetery. Also James and Nancy Powell (in this cemetery) are related to her too.
thank you
Joy

Henry B. Weir
Hello, Carol. Since there is not much info posted on this man's findagrave.com site, I thought you might like to post this obit with his data.. His wife, Ada Bradley Waelder Weir, married Jesse Sinclair Fry in 1906. I research the Fry line and ran across this in my search. I have no other information.

SAN ANTONIO DAILY EXPRESS, San Antonio, Texas 21 August 1899

"Death of Hal Weir" ---- Well Known Young San Antonian Dies At Uvalde, Mortuary
Henry B. Weir, a well known young San Antonian died yesterday morning at Uvalde where he had gone for the benefit of his health, having been for some time afflicted with consumption. The deceased, having been familiarly known as "Hal", was the son of the late Henry Weir, formerly county commissioner and a nephew of Thomas Weir who lives in the eastern part of the county. He was 27 years of age and had resided here most of the time since his birth. He was prominent in militia circles and was for a long time connected with the Belknap Rifles. Several years ago he married Miss Ada Waelder of this city who together with a son, also named Henry B. Weir, survives him. He was the stepson of Hon. William Aubrey and leaves several sisters and a brother. His sisters are Mrs. Albert E. Devine who was Miss Besule [NB?] Weir, Mrs. R. F. Blair who was Miss Lillie Weir, and Mrs. R. C. Culberson who was Miss Emma Weir. His brother is James A. Weir. The remains reached the city at 7 o'clock last evening from whence they were escorted by Messrs. James A. Weir and Hon R. F. Blair and Mesdames Blair and Culberson.
The funeral takes place this morning from the residence of Hon. R. C. Culberson at No. 410 San Pedro Ave.

Carol, I am thinking that you are aware of the duplicate memorial for her as you have added her married name. Curiousity question: is the other member inactive?

Also, the memorial for her husband in in Brighton, England-Capt Frank Laz Showemaker #32290457. Hope this helps to link family members.

Carol,
I make a mistake on spelling of her maiden name. Very sorry.

Spelling should be Ferguson with an "e". I have submitted the correction via Edit process. Thanks for your trouble.
