Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello! I'm Robert (aka "Cenantua"), and I'm a native and resident of the Shenandoah Valley. I've spent a good deal of my life focused on history and the people in it, especially as it relates to my own people in the past. In my eyes, grave hunting and history have always been linked, and it may be that grave hunting actually led me deeper into my quest for expanding my knowledge and understanding of history and the people who played a part in it. I'm an author of twelve history-related books (ten of which relate to some aspect of the American Civil War), and I continue to write about history (focusing mostly on the Shenandoah Valley and western Maryland), but I also find that the Web is a better way of making history come to life than in print publications. I also believe that the same can be said about headstones... and that's why I'm now a contributor to Find-a-Grave.

Most of my entries or requests for changes of existing memorials in Find-a-Grave relate to my ancestors, relatives, or Civil War era interests.

Nicholas Wesley Yeager #47597030
I was so pleased to see the memorial you have created for Nicholas Wesley Yeager. I've been researching this Yeager family (descendants of the 2nd Germanna Colony Yagers) for over 25 years and was just thrilled to see the portrait. I agree with you that the Shenandoah Valley is a wonderful place to live and do research. If you would like to add a word about his lineage, Nicholas Wesley Yager is son of Nicholas Yager, Jr. (b. 1764-65, d. 1792-93) and wife Jemima Yager Yager, who is also his 1st cousin. Nicholas Yager, Jr. is son of Nicholas Yager (1735-1781), son of the immigrant Adam Yager (1708-1794), son of the immigrants Nicholas and Anna Marie Sieber Jager. The immigrants Nicholas, wife Anna, son Adam and daughter Mary were part of a group who became known as the 1717 Second Germanna Colony in Virginia. - Thanks! George Main- Cole's Calvary Member
Hello,

I noticed that you have created a virtual cemetery for the members of Cole's Calvary. I believe that my ancestor, George Main, was a member of that group and I would like to have you include his Find-a-Grave page along with the rest of the company. Thanks.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=20051444

I have included a copy of his obituary on the page that indicates he was a member of the 1st Potomac Home Brigade Calvary (Cole's).

Thank you.
