I live in Columbiana County in Northeastern Ohio. Since I started my family history research, I have been amazed at the unknown family members I have found so close to my home. I want to honor them by adding them to this site. Thank you to all who place flowers on their memorials. I am a member of the Columbiana County and Mahoning County Chapters of the Ohio Genealogical Society.|
Researching: Felger, Naughton, Stanyard, Miller, Bailey, Lind, Lynn/Linn, Sherry, Cranston, Forney, Stallsmith, Hauptmann, Huch, Hull, Stump, VanFossan/VanFossen, Thoman, Summer(s), Baker, Hartje, & Rukenbrod (to name a few).
NOTE: I am working closely with my cousin, Joseph Chaplow, and some of my entries are his family. Preference on transfers will go to him.
PLEASE, if you are going to require documentation for edit changes, provide a means of contact on your profile other than a public message or SAC. I can't post a death certificate or obituary to them. Common sense?
"Genealogy, begins as an interest, becomes a hobby, continues as an avocation and in the last stages, is an incurable disease."
I found this on the profile of another contributor: A fellow by the name of Banksey is credited with a quote. What he said goes something like this: You die twice. Once when you stop breathing... and a second time... later on... when your name is said for the last time.
PLEASE DO NOT USE MY PERSONAL PHOTOS. Any other use or republishing of them is not permitted. It is a violation of FindaGrave guidelines. If you have an interest in someone, please email me. However, you may copy any headstone picture I've added for your own family tree use. The exception would be using my photos when creating a duplicated FindaGrave memorial. This is not allowed and is against the guidelines. A notation that I was the photographer would be appreciated, if only to assist others who may want to contact me about family. I've received a lot of help in obtaining family headstone pictures from other researchers and want to pay it forward. Thank you.
Please check the cemetery before you make an entry to avoid duplications. I welcome any corrections to information I have entered. I try to be as accurate as possible, but sometimes receive conflicting information. Please don't be surprised, shocked, or outraged by an error. I'm human. Please use the suggest a correction tab on the individual memorial. It's easier for me that way.
I have absolutely no interest in numbers, so I usually transfer out-of-guidelines unless it's someone in my family or the requester does not transfer their own entries in that manner. I will only transfer my family members according to the guidelines. Just a reminder: Regarding transfers, please remember...just because you are related to someone doesn't mean someone else isn't. Please see F-A-G guidelines regarding transfers. *"The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it."
I ask you to remember that the members of this site are volunteers, both for entries and photo requests. They spend time and money to do this out of a love of the past, to memorialize those who have gone before, and in remembrance of beloved family members. It requires cooperation and teamwork. If you don't like to do these things, I respectfully ask that you choose another hobby.
***Please remember this precious child and his family: Camden Fairchild.***
***Please remember this young man, a Fallen Graver, who loved what he did and helped many people: Coady Hatlen. He is missed.***
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
"Do not stand on my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the mornings hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave & cry;
I am not there, I did not die."
~*~ONE FINAL GIFT~*~
Scatter me not to the restless winds
Nor toss my ashes to the sea.
Remember now those years gone by
When loving gifts I gave to thee.
Remember now the happy times
The family ties are shared.
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
As though you never cared.
Deny me not one final gift
For all who came to see.
A simple lasting proof that says
I loved and you loved me.

I got a note from mountainbiker.
My cousin, Hazel (Hewitt) Allen, was a history buff and left a considerable amount of family history. Her parents were John and Rose Bailey Hewitt. She had written that Daniel Bailey who married Hannah Leah Hewit had parents Abraham and Maria Magdalena Herber Bailey.
You report different parents for Daniel Bailey.
Do you suppose I could find a death certificate for him that would list his parents? Since he was killed in Walker County, Georgia at the Battle of Chicamaugua do you think a certificate was prepared?
Debbie do you have any clues for this information to clear our questions.

Memorial# 142666623, first part of information is wrong, she was married in 1898. I know I probably put that on there, just letting you know it's wrong. Have not found any death records yet.

I just happen to see this one today, so I may it and transfer it to you, because I know you will take good care of them. If I come by any more I will send them your way.
Thanks for caring,

Hi, thank you for adding my father to Find a Grave. I was wondering if you could transfer it to me so that I can add more info and connect family members to him.

I noticed the exchange you had with DRL about Samuel & Constance Hartford, I am not related to them but I did look for his obituary on a newspaper site I belong to and found it.
Hartford- in Nahant, September 19, Samuel E. Sr., husband of the late Constance L. ( Stack )Hartford, and father of Samuel E. Hartford Jr., of Westwood, and Mrs. Richard A Savage of 40 Wharf St., Nahant. Funeral from the Landergan funeral home, 40 Nahant St., Lynn, on Thursday at 9:00 AM. Solemn High Mass of Requiem in ST. Thomas Acquinis church, Nahant at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours 2-5 and 7-10 on Wednesday.
The obit was in The Boston Herald Newspaper on September 21,1960.

|DRL||RE: Constance Hartford|
There is an ancestry.com family tree by Barbara Johnson Alex which indicates her last name as Stack, parents James J and Ann (Bulhman) Stack and her husband as being Samuel Edson Hartford. No real sources are listed and the author of the tree is using the same date of death for Constance and Samuel, Feb, 7, 1950, whereas Samuel died in 1960. I've seen the MA Death Index info but am not convinced it is for this person.

I have been trying to verify the information you sent regarding Samuel (Memorial # 116033552) and his wife, Constance (Memorial #116033394).
I have verified Samuel's middle name and Constance's year of death.
Can you provide me with sources for his parents' names? Also, I have found evidence that Constance's maiden name may have been Stack, not Frank. Can you provide sources for your information? Thanks

Thank you for the transfers.
As far as the guide lines, I miss read them. I wasn't looking that my generation was being counted as one because of siblings.
