Hi Kevin,

Would you mind linking Cynthia and Wilbur, Jr. to their father please?

Cynthia Adele McArthur # 101912806

Wilbur Joseph Jr. # 101913104

both Cynthia and Wilbur Jr are at Turtleskin.

Their father is:

Wilbur Joseph McArthur, Sr. # 75764038 - he is buried at Logtown Cemetery. Their mother Alma is still living.

Thank you so much,

Look at the back of the headstone. He is interred in same grave as Isaac Carr, PVT H 3 RI.

RE: Chalmette National Cemetery

You didn't provide the first names of the others you were seeking, so here is the list I have:

Askew, Thomas Section 118, Plot 9587

Case, George C. Section 56, Plot 11787
Case, J. H. Section 44, Plot 3393
Case, Louis Section 154, Plot 12520

Moss, William Section 146, Plot 11713
Moss, William E. Section 76, Plot 6154

Shannon, David Section 68, Plot 5501

There is a single main road which runs through the cemetery in a straight line, with a turn-around at the end of the road by the GAR Monument. It is adjacent to the Chalmette Battlefield. Another name for this cemetery is Monument Cemetery.

There are section markers located in the middle of the first row of each section. There are two sections on either side of the road (one behind the other).

The walking trail to the Battlefield is at section 116. The first sections you come to when entering the cemetery are 181 and 182. These are the newest burials. (The cemetery has been closed to new burials for several years).

Ware of 1912 Veterans are buried in sections 23, 46A, 107, and 135.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

RE: Eskew/Lewis Connections....
Sorry this took so long to answer but computer has been out of commission. I know very little about the Askew/Eskew family except that my Grandmother made sure that I knew all of her grandmother's maiden names. So Martha Caroline has never been Martha Caroline Jeffreys to me, it has always from the time I was a small child Martha Caroline Askew. I belive in the 1860 Census of Marion Co. Al, (I'm not if front of my information) I found an Irvin Askew with wife Sarah and daughter either Martha or Caroline, I don't remember which. Living next door is Riley Askew and a Riley Todd who also married on of Martha Caroline sisters. Another sister (Jane) married a Duke and is burried in Duke Cemeter in Marion County Al. Riley Tood and wife are buried in Smyrna Cemetery in Marion Co. AL . In 1870 Marion County Census, Sarah is living with daughter Martha Caroline and husband Jacob Jeffreys. Have not been able to go any further back. Hope this helps. Always glad to hear form other family researcher. Joyce Riggan

RE: Gray Cemetery, Stone County, AK

I am glad you will be visiting Gray Cemetery. Yes it is on private property and it is always best to call the owners before going. Oyd Johnson and his wife own the farm where the cemetery resides. Their # is 870-746-4375. When I called before visiting last Sept, Mrs Johnson was very gracious. I never saw her or anyone else when I visited the cemetery, which is hard to find. In my genealogical blog I write about my visit and tell how to find the overgrown cemetery. Here's the link:

I'd love to hear about your visit! You can email me at
