 | Question regarding-Cemetery access Good Morning AJ. Yesterday I had a very unpleasant encounter at St Francis Cemetery in Phoenix with who I believe was the manger of the cemetery. St Francis has 15 photo requests that I thought I would pick up. I went into the office to ask about grave locations. I was then pulled into the manger's office to only be told that I was essentially trespassing on private property, and would need a written affidavit from each family members stating that I could take pictures. Never mine that several of these requests are people that died more the 80 years ago! He told me that he had e-mail from another person asking about grave locations in the past. And "we had no idea that people were wandering around our cemetery taking headstone pictures". This man seemed to have a personal disdain against Find A Grave. Stating to me sacristy "I have seen the web site" He made me feel like a criminal! I did however go to an older section & take over 100 pics:) My question to you is Is there a general rule/law/statue regarding Public access to cemeteries?
I am going to follow-up in writing with this cemetery manger's boss & would like to be able have the correct information regarding this. Interestingly enough is that Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa has been very kind & generous & drives me out to a plot when I ask them for a grave location. So this leads me to believe that it is not the Phoenix Catholic diocese policy against photo requests, only the this manger at St Francis. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your help Shana Cardenas in AZ

 | Thank you Susan Baker was the babysitter for me and my husband James A Baker JR back in the 80's and it was my son Paul who disapeared at her hands and my daughter Nina that almost died to her neglect and her beatings. Making her sit in a closet for many hrs with a pot to urinate or defecate in and she is the reason Paul had a tooth up in his head, she hit him so hard and knocked him down. This i learned from my daughter yesterday. We suffered so much at her hands and we still suffer every day, I am just thankful this child was found alive. How many must die or be abused by Susan Baker before someone says, no more? I just wanted to thank you for the grave you have given him on your website, i cried. But tears of joy that he isnt forgotten. I printed the whole thing out including the notes to give my daughtetr and my mother, thank you thank you thank you. You made a grieving mother smile. thank you. Lynda Solorzano Durham NC | | | Bubba Usry
 | Captain Charles Butler McVay The captain of the USS Indianapolis is not listed under famous people. He was wrongfully courtmarshalled for the largest amount of deaths in naval history and later pardoned. Unfortunately he had commited suicide in 1969. There is a nice memorial for him created by a member however, it is not listed under famous. Thank you for an awesome site. I am proud to be a member though I am not able to contribute as often as I would like.

 | Policy on Memorial Transfers Hi A.J.,
I have already looked at the FAQs and the way they are worded, the answer is not entirely clear to me. I am hoping you can provide several words of explanation.
I fully understand that when a person transfers a memorial, the action is permanent and the originating person can not rescind or "take back" the transfer.
However, I was under the impression that if a person transfers a memorial to me, I can fully load the missing data, bio sketch, photo, relationships, etc., and then I can transfer the memorial back to them, if that is their preference. I just had a person tell me that it is "not an allowed Find A Grave practice" to transfer (return) a memorial back to the person who originally entered it.
Could you please clarify, and if it is truly possible to transfer (return) a memorial to the originator, perhaps the FAQ could be amended to clarify this.
Temporary "loans" of memorials is a highly efficient way of getting the data fully entered without interfering with the originator retaining credit and ultimately regaining full control of the memorial.
Thanks for all you do! Craig H. Trout #46822921 | | | Damian Omar Plaza in Chicago

 | RE: Find a Grave reminder Hi there, Sorry to cause any harm, I thought it was rather mild considering what he did. I'm surprised that you didn't make Howard Unruh famous but of course that's up to you. You must be very busy and I don't want to take up you're time. I did find some exact dates of death for some of your relatives that you only had a year listed. Let me know if you are interested or if you have that info already. | | | Luana
