We Are The Chosen Author Unknown
My feelings are in each family we are called to the ancestors.To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.To me.doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but,instead,breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe. We have been called as it were by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us; Tell our story,So,we do. In finding them,we somehow find ourselves. How many times have I told the ancestors you have wonderful would be proud of us? It goes beyond just documenting facts.. It goes to who I am and why I do the things I do? The bones here are bones of my bones and flesh of my flesh.It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what are ancestors were able to accomplish.How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses,their never giving in or giving up. Their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are.That we might remember them. So we do.With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence. Because we are them and they are us. So, as a scribe called,I TELL THE STORY OF MY FAMILY. It is up to that one called in the next generation, To answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers. That is why I do my family gealogy.
When I first started my family resource. it was with great honor and respect to remember those who were my dearly closet family members. honored person's to served my country to keep me free.friends and most of all that that gave me live my dear loving parents. Noah and Nellie Turner.In the close five years that I have been searching for my family. friends I also wanted to add those whom I did not help others who's love ones they may not be able to locate.this time the search for my love ones over the past few years has become more difficult then I expected, all thou, I still hope and pray by the will of God that I will beable to add or help anyone whomay want resource on a friend or family member that I have all ready added.but please do not ask me to transfer any of my family or closes friend. and picture maybe copied, but not transferred, and hope that its not for a sale to someone eles. remember you copied it FREE.when I started this I was in company with a very dear niece. who so enjoyed this.and helped me to get 2013 along this past years I have losted afew close other relatives., that were apart of my life. or just there to talk to.this year alone I losted a dear niece.two great nephews.a niece has lost her mother-in-law, another niece has losted her father-in-law. what may behold in store for the rest of the year only the Lord knows.i look say here as I have so many times before. my resource is not to be counted my names or pictures. but remembering, honoring. missing terribly.theses family names for me are Turner's and Hose's are from Hardy Co,Wv,and my Sterling family is from Crisfield MD of the Eastern Shore.

It was the first day of Census,and all through the land.The pollster was ready,a black book in hand.He mounted his horse for a long dusty ride;His books and some quills were close by his side;
Along winding ride down a road barey there;Toward the smell of fresh bread wofting up through the air.The woman was tired with lines on her face;and wispe of brown hair,She tucked into place.
She gave him some water,as they sat at the table.
He asked of her children.the best she was able.The oldest was twenty,the youngest not two.She held up a toddler with cheeks round and red;his sister she whipsered was napping in bed.
She noted each person who lived there with pride.and she felt the faint stirrings of the wee one inside.He noted the sex,the color,the age. The marks from the quill soon filled up the page.At the number of children.She nodded her head.and he saw her lips quiver for the three that were dead.The places of birth she never forgot,Was it Kansas?or Utah? or Orgean? or not?They came from Lithuania of that she was clear.But she wasn't quite sure,Just how long they been here. They spoke of employment of schooling and such.They could read some. and write some.though really not much;
When the questions were answered his job was done.So he mounted his horse.and rode toward the sun.We can almost imagine, his voice loud and clear May God Bless you all for another ten years. TO Those of you who keep reviewing my resources. ido not know how you can seek someone out who is trying to honor and remember their love one. several times i have bben ask to remove several of my immate family members.because considered dupleted. have you took a real hard look at mine as their there for remembrance not number like i believe all of yous who do big count numbers, mine are not there for num,bes but remember, i suppose not even 1/2 of yous dont even know all the people that yous add for numbers. well mine is not the case, all pics resouce and obits etc are all my finding and doing, by visiting, talking to such as family, friends, i have visited several of thses cemeteries thru the years, such as it may be of yous who add my family with a name poss headstone, why dont you check mine with full family resouce, and i do not have e-mail, nor do i use it.

RE: Levi turner
I prefer to email privately rather than have this all out where everyone can see our mundane correspondence. You have my email address. I did reply to you..just to your email.

Wow! Somebody's been BUSY! Hee! Hee! Thank you so much for all your effort! Here's the scoop Barbara! My tree collection has gotten so huge that I can barely keep up with all the incoming correspondence and sometimes can't remember one John...from the other! I got lost pretty bad while reviewing the Harford Co. Turners and they still need much more work. In other words, I'm trying to do too many things at once and often end up confused and exhausted! Hopefully, I'll have more time this winter to catch up...but here are a couple of my latest theories about "Long John". I have a John Turner who married 1782 to Rosanna McBride at the Methodist church in Baltimore. This was evidently a double ceremony with Charles Turner who married Sarah Needy (Knode). Charles was the oldest son of my George & Hannah Neff. This John shows up as John Tomer on the 1783 tax list of Pipe Creek Hundred and is probably one of the John Turners listed there in 1790 census. I also have an unidentified John Turner in 1810 Frederick Co. who could be him. One needs to remember that these folks lived near Westminster, MD and their records are found in both Baltimore & Frederick counties. The old IGI shows several Turner marriages at that same Methodist church in Baltimore between 1800 & 1820. He's gotta be listed somewhere in 1810, 1820 & 1830 and I hope to "weed him out" someday! In answer to your Michael Tanner question...Michael Tanner 1776-1848 was a nephew to your James I Turner (aka James Michael Tanner). We may not live long enough to sort this all out but... "By George, we'll keep pecking away at it!" Take care Barb! Landon Tanner

John Turner book
Oh yes Barbara! If you have that book we should post a few pages. The cover or title page is always good to post along with any pages about Long John, especially the birth date given. I have an AFT for Long John so I could post unlimited pages. I sure wish I could find Long John in 1810, 1820 & 1830 census. I reviewed the family of Col. Andrew Turner of Harford Co., MD whom I researched many years ago. His father Thomas Turner came from Ireland possibly about 1760 and in Harford Co., MD he was called "the first Turner around here". It appears that all Turners in Harford are his descendants. There is no James Turner mentioned in his will but...according to census records of Harford, he probably had 3 or 4 older sons that weren't mentioned in the will. They were all born before 1755 but nothing is known about them so there could've possibly been a James among them who was of age in 1796. I feel certain that your James I was in VA before 1790 because he's not found in 1790 census...and I think he's the Michael Tanner there on the 1784 tax list. Several of his allied families are also on this list. I'm certain that your James is also the Michael Danner who signed the petition to move the county seat of Baltimore county in 1768...and he's the James M Dunah listed in Pipe Creek Hundred of Baltimore Co. in I believe David Benjamin Turner was probably born there in Pipe Creek Hundred. Long John may have also been born there... or else in Frederick Co. where this family lived before 1758.

Lucinda b 1851 d Feb 5,1910. They were married Dec. 23,1869. I know as I get older the more confused I get, sometimes it all runs together and I have to take a brake from it.

RE: wines
Martha Aldwilda Cain the d/o Joshua & Lucinda,Cook Cain married my husbands grandfather William Wilson. They had several children. So Martha who was married to Reuben was supposed to be a Cain? Is that correct?

Long John Turner
Barbara, do I understand correctly that Noah Showalter published a book about Long John? If so, some copies would sure be swell on John's memorial! Do you have the book, know it's title or where a person can seen it? Landon

RE: cain & wines
If Martha was born in 1846 there no way she could be Joshua & Lucinda,schild

RE: cain
I also have a William Cain who married Ethilia Whetzel. They had one child named Margaret Cain who married Clinton Kuykendyll, but she had a dau out of wedlock named Dora Cain but she married Levi Cook Joshua's first wife heirs were Harrison,Florence,eunice,henretta,Susan,Kate &George Now she kept on having children and they went by Cain, that's why I wanted to find hisndivorce papers that stated that he got the child. which was uncle Harris.
