I am member who is doing photo requests/random photos after locating a family member's gravestone on Find A Grave.

Please do not copy my photos and claim them as your own..I am happy to transfer a memorial to you if you are related..all you have to do is ask!!

If I have added a gravestone photo of your ancestor and you would prefer that it not be posted..just ask me to have it problem with doing this.

I will add your contributor's number to any edits that you send me. So that others will know the source of added information and can contact you with any further questions or research info.

Thanks to everyone who has had to endure my transition period concerning the edit issue. I certainly appreciate all your trouble/effort through this time and hopefully this new way of doing edits will solve this "problem".

Good luck with your genealogy!!

Thank you, Sara.
Maybe our paths will cross again one of these days.

Sorry about the problem. I sent the second message when you declined my original corrections. The second message was a typing or spelling error. Her maiden name was Steele. The daughter of John and Sarah Cobb Steele.

Thank you for responding Sara, and I think you're solution is a great one! That way, people can contact the person who provided the information. Like you, I've made edits and had no good way of noting who requested the change. Then later, when I was queried about a bit of information, I had no answer for the source. I keep notes in my database, but your method sounds even more streamlined.

RE: The Kelleys

I also get a lot of edits, but I don't automatically decline them. I see if I can verify the information (which is my responsibility) and if I can't, I put the edits on hold and send a message to the contributor asking for further information.

By declining edits automatically, you force me to go to all the trouble of 1) contacting you at your membership page and then 2) resending the edits, which means duplicating work I've already done. That's disrespectful of my time and effort.

So, I'm going to resend the Kelly edits and hope you'll honor them.

RE: Edit Issue
hi- i have re-read your you prefer everything be put in the suggestion space first, with references, and then you will do the final entry? i will be very happy to have my contributor# attached as i have been doing a lot of "connecting families" work the past few months, esp. between new england and the midwest, where many families have lost their ties and yet they will never know how to reach me if they wish to know more. so, while i was unhappy being rejected, i do sympathize with your intentions. is my main peeve for perpetuating errors! they need someone to check on those posts! i will send you one sample and see if it is as you wish it. cheryl

The Kelleys
You declined my edits for Samuel, Lucinda and Robert Kelly. Their gravestones identify them as KELLEY, with an "e." Please let me know why you insist on using a spelling that differs from the name on the gravestone. This practice is very problematic for someone like me who photographs tombstones, searches cemeteries to make sure that I'm not creating a duplication, and then creates memorials only to discover that someone has already created memorials with an alternate spelling. Please reconsider your decision.

Oliver Bogue
You declined my request that you include Oliver's name. Your reason was that the information conflicted with your data. Both the History of Pittsford and the Bogue genealogy identify him as Oliver. If you have a different name, please let me know what it is.
