Anita, thank you for contacting me. I don't know how you got roped into this duty.
I'm not going to argue the fact that Restland Cemetery does not have a record of John Van Winkle being buried in their cemetery. From past experience with my Great great grandfather Samuel Monroe Highsmith and his son David Meek Highsmith I feel certain that Restland has no record of many reinterments from the cemeteries displaced when Fort Hood was built.
In TXgenweb.org there are pages of people moved to other cemeteries. A John Van Winkle is one of those moved from Brown's Creek Cemetery to Gatesville. I realize it does not say Restland Cemetery but you can look at Susie Van Winkle. She was buried in Brown's Creek and her marker found it way to Restland. Several Clawsons were moved from Brown's Creek and their stones are now located in Restland. John Van Winkle didn't appear to have a marker so I assume he is in an unmarked grave in Restland. I am surprised the government did not provide some type of simple marker.
I am not trying to be stubborn but I do feel that lack of information and poor communication between the Army and local cemeteries has left a lot of unanswered questions regarding who is buried where.
For now I am keeping my memorial for John Van Winkle. Please relay this information to the person that claims John does not belong in Restland.
Another note. I worked with Sherry Lawrence on some of the Van Winkles so she may have some helpful thoughts on this subject.

I had a friend that told me he lied about his age when he was going to the services. They could have done this to be able to enter or lied to keep out.

I have claimed your request for Nadine.
After checking the cemetery's online records, and the "Tombfinder App", and not finding her, I closely checked her Find A Grave memorial, and read that there is no grave marker.
With that information, it explains her absence on the websites.
Let me know what you want to do.

Maybe Hester was her twin--many Van Winkles were various degrees of cousins to some of my ancestors, but I've never looked into many of the details for the children who died young.

It's my pleasure. I'm sorry it took me so long to get it posted. I believe I did his wife as well.

I just transfered to you. Please tell me your connection.

Many thanks for trying to take a picture of Kenneth Shaw SPENCER's tombstone for me and later confirming with the cemetery office his grave is "unmarked". Hope Santa left you something special. Doug McBroom, Aurora CO

Thanks...I will change it to your date as I imagine the state site is might be more accurate.
I was going by rootsweb Death Morgan County Death Register file 1. These were transcribed from the court house records.
