RE: jamesd.doty
I did come across a reference to the book (actually, an excerpt)... it is at the website:,+Frontier+Promoter&hl=en&sa=X&ei=XbvxUO_BCu72iQLFg4HQDg&ved=0CEAQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=James%20Duane%20Doty%2C%20Frontier%20Promoter&f=false

another listing is:,+Frontier+Promoter&hl=en&sa=X&ei=XbvxUO_BCu72iQLFg4HQDg&ved=0CEYQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=doty&f=false

and, for something connected, there is a book for sale online titled, 'Memories of Doty Island: a link between two cities', at website:

Hope this helps!!

RE: jamesd.doty
Mr. Doty:
Even though the images are posted on a public memorial, the images themselves are (in many cases) property of the person who photographed the gravestones...
I once made a horrible mistake and downloaded photos that I THOUGHT were in the public domain, only to be contacted by the person - who was beside herself with anger - who had taken the original photos & demanded I remove every one of these photos!! Lesson learned!
I will have to do some research regarding the book and other histories and get back with you... good luck with your research!!
