Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

Repeating - please let my edit flow through correcting your erroneous information that this lady has departed; she is my mother and is still with us at 86 years of age. It is insensitive for you to have not previously responded to (first) my private message, nor (second) my public message.

She is upset at being ignored, and fears you will create legal complications.

Your dereliction is shocking.

Erath County (Carr)
I'm searching for dates on my mother's 53 cousins on the Carr side. I've found some. I bet a lot are buried either at Desdemona or Bunyan. I see you are indicated as the source on several posts. Maybe you can give a steer that will make the search easier.

I am the grandson Frona Carr Ames, who is buried in Ranger. I knew her mother Eppie well as she lived her later years with my grandmother. Eppie is buried at Bunyan.

I'd love to hear from you.

Harvey Daffern
I am doing research for on Harvey Daffern and noticed in your posting that he gave an interview to a Lubbock newspaper in 1909. I have not been able to locate the article. Could you please point me in the direction?

Dear Ken,

There is no death date on this gravestone because this lady is alive and thriving in 2016; she's my mother, and we'll gladly drive over from Hood County to see you if that's necessary to get the error corrected :) The very good reason there is no death date for her on the grave stone photo posted by you in 2009 when the Memorial was created is because she's still here ! If you had corrected this info I had privately sent to you, I would not be publicly posting this message.

Jack Payton # 65457980
In my edit for my great grandpa Jack Payton, I put the death date as May 6 (typo); it should have been May 16 (which I got from his death certificate). Also, the d.c. states his birth as Aug 3 1896 and Lola was the informant. My mother says his birthday was Aug 6 1895 (headstone says 1895). I feel like it is Aug 6 1895 (which I put 3 on the edit and wasn't ready to change the year).

Anyway, I would like to manage this page if you would let me and that way when I get more info I can make the changes and additions. I recently received lots of photos and papers from my uncle Jim Payton and am sorting through them. Thank you so much.

I have Mattie, Media,Armstrong Watson's name as Almeda Pearl Armstrong Watson. Her parents are: Henry Thomas Armstrong and Sarah 'Sallie' Jane McPherson.
'Media' birth is 7 Feb 1881 in Commanche County, Texas. You have the correct death information.
How did you come by her name as Mattie? Just wondering. You are doing a wonderful job in findagrave, thanks.

I am so sorry, but inadvertently added a memorial for Hannah Vaughn Peterson back in May. I never saw your's. I do not know how to merge these, but know it can be done. I could delete mine, but a few family members found it and added flowers. It would be a shame to lose those. How can these flowers be added to your memorial? I will delete mine then.
