John Martin Franks' Parents
Hi, Jacob and Mary are my 5th great grand parents. My grandmother was a Franks. Maybe we could exchange information. I do have the Franks back several generations but after I get back so far the info. gets pretty muddled. Take care and write if back if you want to, Dave

Denny Lipps-Old Stone Church
I updated Denny Eugene Lipps's memorial with the info you provided about his spouse. I didn't see anything in the file on his spouse. Once the weather clears up I will go check the cemetery and the historical society and see what I can find.
We are currently buried in snow. :(

Sincerely,
Leslie Acord

RE: Mattie Lou Silas
We live in Michigan. My husband still has an aunt and uncle in Smithville, Mississippi. We have done a lot of cemetery searches (and photographing of graves) when we visited them over the years. My husband was born in Mississippi (his parents have passed). We usually make it down there 1x per year. My research in the Silas (Sallis) family has been very interesting and informative. I've tried to put a lot on Findagrave too. I've seen a lot of your photos on ancestry too. We have very few photos. The photo of Elias and Vessa Silas in the sugar cane field was an awesome find (in my mother in law's photos and labeled). Elias and Vessa had three sons: Andrew, Sam, and Hamp. Hamp was my husband's grandfather. (Somewhere along the way Sallis was changed to Silas). There is some research on the internet that is incorrect about our Silas family, and we have tried to let the researcher know with limited success.

RE: Jesse West
There is a book here in the library(I work in Smith Co. library and do the genealogy with folks in our great little genealogy room)called "What's in a Name" don't know if you're familiar with it. Page 43 states he died 25 Sept. 1835 when he, on his own farm, cutting timber was struck with a limb that killed him. Leaving Elizabeth with 7 children. He was perhaps the first person buried in what came to be called the 7 Sisters Cemetery. Born 1795 in Halifax County, Virginia, and coming to Smith County, Tenn. in 1804. Be glad to help you with any other info. you might want. Vonda
