Bio and Links
Bio Photo Please let me take a moment to thank each and every one of you that leaves a token on any of my memorials. You will never know how much it means to me and how thankful I am for caring people like you!

I am very active here and am happy to do links, add bios, etc. So there is no confusion, please suggest your corrections through the Edit tab on the memorial, not on my profile page.

I respectfully request that if you have changes or additions to a memorial that I created, biographical information or an obituary, please do not leave the information in the flower/token section of the memorial. Instead, please use the Edit tab and send the information to me to include.

I am very generous with transfers; however, please remember that I have done the locating, researching, picture taking, linking, etc. I am thrilled when I can transfer memorials to family but if you are "collecting" names in your family tree, I am not obligated to transfer outside of Find a Grave guidelines.

"Remember friends as you pass by
As you are now, so once was I
As I am now, so you must be
Prepare for death and follow me."
And a variation found on Elisha Doane's (1699-1759) grave:
"Pray think of Me as You pass by
As You are now so once was I
But now I lye Disolv'd to Dust
In Hopes to Rise among the Just"

William McKay FAG Memorial # 162628903
Hi Kelly,

Thank you for your email regarding the duplicate for William McKay's memorial. To be honest this issue blows me away. When I first established the memorial there was no memorial for William. However I believe there was one for his grandson, who was also named William. William, the grandson, was the son of John & Sarah (Archer) McKay who are also buried at the Polly Archer Cemetery. Did you also contact the person who is responsible for the other William McKay Find A Grave memorial? I'll need to do some additional research before modifying or removing my memorial post. I would like to contact the person responsible for the other William McKay memorial to see if some how the two Williams got confused.

My William McKay is my 4th great grandfather and there is a great deal of history regarding the family, so I don't want to make any corrections until I'm sure everything is correct. My wife and I visited the Polly Archer cemetery in July 2006, which was overgrown with weeds and in a state of major disrepair. After quite a bit of searching we were finally able to locate and photograph William's tombstone. I also found William the grandson's tombstone as well and that of his dad, John. The photo on the memorial is the one I took and the information on William McKay's Find A Grave memorial if from the information my wife and I have collect over the past years from other members of my McKay family as well as from governmental sources.

If you would like please feel free call me at: 1-209-955-1056, or contact me via email at:

With warmest regards,
Hal Armstrong
