Live in Mount Carmel,Pennsylvania. Trying to find other family members of Harold Seibert Miller(father),John Seibert Miller(Gf),William Miller(Ggf)Lafayette Derr(MGgf),Israel Derr(MGGgf),John William Boyer(MGf), Joseph Boyer(MGGf). Also related to the Weikels, Kerstetters and Updegrove(sp?)|
After being called out by someone for misinformation, I would like to set the record straight. I spent over 12 years of my life reading 104 years of local newspapers in the Mount Carmel and Shamokin Pennsylvania area. My data comes from personally reading every obituary printed in those papers. Additional data was taken directly from death records read by me. Those records were taken directly from the death certificates written by the attending doctor/coroner upon that person's death. My "Lost Little Angels" & "Lost Angel" data was taken from their obituary or death certificate. I trust the doctor's information but the newspaper data I took with a grain of salt as the saying goes.
That's because after doing my research, I found out that reporters back then did not necessarily care if what they reported was correct or correctly spelled. A prime example was the death of a child named "Kulick" (correct spelling). One local newspaper had it correct, the other had it spelled "Coolick". So if the data I post is incorrect, don't kill the messenger, blame the reporter who didn't give a cr@p to make sure they reported the right information. I can only post the information taken from the obituary, how am I suppose to know if said information was incorrect. I tried to look for updated obituaries to make sure I had the right data but most times there was only one obituary and that's what I used. Please accept my apology for venting on here but I have spent a good part of my life trying to help fellow genealogist and to be called out because of misinformation hurt.
As far as changing incorrect information, I am happy to do so. I am also willing to transfer any memorial. As most people know, it is very difficult to read sandstone headstones, especially if they're weathered. So please take the time to read any stone you may be concerned about the information I may have used. After all it is very subjective material and open for interpretation. Using special filters, I gave it my best shot but I'm not sure on some stones and even went back to actually feel the lettering or numbers, it's still guess work in some cases.

Robert, Glad to have Hannah and Nathan Howenstine, have been working on them today here and on Ancestry. Will keep them if ok with you. On their children who are buried in Mt. C will send a request on their memorials to just link them to their parents. No need to transfer the children. Thank You again. Carrie

I appreciate you taking your time to leave a message and remembrance for Agnes Clement. I also appreciate all the work you have done in gathering information to share with us, and then sharing it. We all need to remember that any information is only as good as the factual knowledge of the person providing the information. While a death certificate would reflect an accurate date and place of death, anything further is information provided by another, and sometimes a date and or place of birth is incorrect. I have encountered tombstones that were off by 10 years denoting the date of death, and church records, that also were off by years. I have also encountered an incorrect parent's name on a death certificate. I have confidence you provide the best information available to you when you post anything, and for that I am truly grateful. Thank you for your kindness and helpfulness.
