Bio and Links
Bio Photo Began working on the family line in 1973 and the wife's line in 1976, doing things the old-fashioned way--Visiting County Courthouses, Trolling Spooky Graveyards, writing countless letters, and making phone calls to strangers. I have gotten many a helpful boost from others to keep the project going, and must say that I've found many helpful people here on Find-A-Grave. The Internet has made searching a lot easier, I wish we had that back in the day. I have connected with others in my family lines because of Find-A-Grave. As of now, I am my family's only Historical Gatekeeper.
To those of you who have suffered loss in your lives, this is the place to be to honor your departed loved ones, as I can well attest to. My Wives, My Parents, one of my Children, and most of my Relatives are gone now. This site offers unique ways to honor and memorialize those who were near and dear to us, while also providing a virtual visit to their final resting place. For those interested in their Family History, the links to Parents, Siblings, Children, and other Family are the best to be found anywhere.
To the right are virtual cemeteries, as this is for our children, containing our ancestors (Paternal Line), and both my late wives' ancestors (Maternal Line), Siblings of all lines (Extended Siblings), Step-Family & In-Law Families (Related Other Families), Ancestor's Sibling's Spouses (Sibling Spouses), and descended family members of all lines, including spouses (Extended Relatives).
Also there is a place for those many friends and others I've known (Those From The Past), plus several other virtual cemeteries containing various interests of mine.

RE: Prass / Badet
Chuck,

Edna Prass Badet was my great grandmother so we are, indeed, distant cousins. It's nice to meet you!

Your photos of the Otto Prass, his wife, Ida and his ancestors were the first images that I ever saw of these individuals, so I am grateful to you as well for posting them.

To answer your question, I have done quite a bit of research on the Badet family over the past few years. If you would like to see it all, just send me an email address or an Ancestry.com username and I'll invite you to view my tree.

Take care,
Paul

Nellie E. Dockstader
Hi,

Okay! I've researched Nellie again and again now, and read what you wrote over and over. Nellie's marriage record gives two witnesses - Fannie Haynes and Seraph Haynes. Their names (Frances & Saraph) can be found living with an Ellen Haynes in the 1860 census of Centreville, St. Joseph Co., MI. The parents seem to be William & Mary Haynes. They appear in the 1850 census of Sturgis, St. Joseph Co., MI with Francis and Sarah Haynes but not Ellen or Nellie! So where is she? Is she the Ellen Cook that is listed with Lawrence and Elizabeth Cook in the 1850 census? That Ellen is listed as 19 years old; however, usually census enumeration is done by age. Maybe Ellen is really only 9. That would make the year of birth agreeable with Nellie Dockstader's year of birth. But why would Ellen Cook be living with the Haynes'in 1860?

I've known people born under one name, raised under another and neither of them were the name of their biological father! Given all the possibilities, I'm going to leave Nellie's maiden name blank and make some notes on her memorial. Maybe there's someone else out there that can figure it out!

Nellie Dockstader Marriage Record
Hi again,

Okay, now I've located the marriage record. They were married in Centreville, Michigan on Jan. 9, 1863. The record gives her name as Nellie E. Haynes. I'm going to add that her memorial. If you can show me that it should be Cook, I'll consider changing it again.

Have a good day!

Lois

Nellie E. Dockstader Edits
Hi,

I accepted all the edits you sent for Nellie. Thanks for correctly identifying her husband as Joseph and not Henry, who is her son. However, I have removed the link to Lawrence Cook as her father. Everything I have found - children's death and marriage records -indicated that Nellie's maiden name was Haynes or Haines, but I have not found a marriage certificate yet. Can you explain to me how you found her maiden name as Cook and her father as Lawrence Cook?

Thanks,

Lois

Clara May Boyer Smith
Hi!

I saw that you left a flower just yesterday for my great-grandmother Clara May Boyer Smith. I am working on the family history. Are you a relative? Might we exchange family history info? I am from the "long lost" branch of the Boyer-Harvey family.
