Family historian, micropaleontologist, hiker, retired teacher among other things. Thanks to all who posted memorials and photos useful in my family tree, and made memorials of closer family members. I do not "own" my memorials and photos, your non-commercial use for family purposes is fine with me, credit is appreciated in your trees, histories and websites. Prohibited: commercial use unless you have my written permission.

Now working on Strausbaugh family tree. NEED HELP: looking for parents of Lucy Ann Elizabeth Strausbaugh, wife of Melchior Sachs. Married 1849 March 16 in Gettysburg, non-Cathlic rite. Born in or near Gettsyburg, PA about 1829. NOT Lucy Ann the daughter of George Strausbaugh and Elizabeth Bittinger, that Lucy Ann married Joseph Warner and stayed in Pennsylvania instead of moving to Illinois. Anyone knowing her parents names please contact me.

Elizabeth Ryer Strausbaugh
I am the great great granddaughter of Peter Frantz and Elizabeth Ryer Strausbaugh. Elizabeth was first married to Peter Frantz then remarried the Xavier Strausbaugh. I have some information of Elizabeth and the Frantz family if interested.

The change in the name has been made and thank you for the correction. I had at first agonized over the difference but all the info I had had the s on the name.

No need to thank me as I do this out of love and I no longer live in La. either. I don't get to the cemeteries like I would like and don't have the access to info and the corrections are appreciated!

Blessings ~ Solange

RE: Craig Memorial Park cemetery
Hi Chris, no need to talk to locals. The Craig Swamp Cemetery is a totally different cemetery (in a totally different town). The Wainmans were never buried there. Mr & Mrs Wainman were buried at Craig Memorial Park, in St Augustine, FL, which has been owned and operated by the Craig Funeral Home since 1985. The funeral home (established in 1918 in St Augustine as the Sanchez & Craig Funeral Directors) and memorial park are family-run businesses, now into their 4th generation of the Craig family.

The Philips/Craig Swamp Cemetery is located in Jacksonville, FL. It is on St Augustine Road, near Lorimer Road, and is also near Craig Creek. The property there was originally owned by Albert Gallatin Philips, and his wife, Martha Ann Hendricks Philips. They donated the land in the 1840s for a Methodist church, school & cemetery. Many of the early pioneers of the Jacksonville area, along with both Union and Confederate war veterans, are buried there. Since 1971, the cemetery has been owned, and maintained, by the Southern Genealogist Exchange Society of Jacksonville, and they have done an excellent job. The marker you speak of is still there.

Hope this clears things up for you, and you can now make the distinction for the place the Wainmans are really buried. Let me know if you have any more questions. ~ Reenie

RE: Thanks
Hi Chris,
Glad I could help with the photos. The cemetery is called Craig Memorial Park, and not Craig Swamp Cemetery. They do a very nice job there of keeping the park clean and well-maintained. Let me know if you need any other photos in the area, I would be glad to be of assistance.
Best regards, Reenie
