I'm a genealogy enthusiast, a Civil War & U.S. military history buff and have always had a fascination with cemeteries. I'm also a USAF veteran of the Persian Gulf War and a second generation hillbilly (Kentucky).|
My current Find-A-Grave projects are locating graves and updating existing memorials for members of two of my great-great-grandfather's Civil War regiments (23rd Kentucky and 28th Ohio Infantries, both Union). I appreciate all of the cooperation I'm receiving from my fellow gravers! I'm also helping to clean up the "Autograver" mess at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Most of my memorials are family, but I do enter military veterans and other graves that may catch my eye from time to time. If I have a memorial of a relative or friend of yours, send me a transfer request by way of a SAC. I don't follow FAG's transfer guidelines as if they were the Ten Commandments like some folks do. If you have ever refused to transfer the memorial of a relative to someone - shame on you. That's just plain mean. What a truly horrible person it takes to be selfish with the memory of someone's deceased friend or loved one.
Please feel free to use my grave marker photos for your personal use. ˝

Thank you so much for the transfer! I will look forward to updating his memorial soon! I know about the weather and I know how it is. It's OK, spring will come soon enough. :) Thank you again!

That cem info is exactly what I had found on this person. I wasn't sure if I had the right person/headstone. And yes, please do find out if others were buried with him as well. I'm working on tying up on his family, my family, of course. Thank you very very much for affirming what I thought all along.

|Time Traveler||RE: Weller photos|
You are welcome and am glad to have helped. I am what you might call a row "mower," so most request fulfillments come by a happy chance. While I am currently still working on uploading about 2500 photos from the cemetery, it is likely that the section that contained your relatives has already been uploaded. What I do know is that there are a good number of unmarked graves, and a good number of illegible markers. If I did not upload them, unless they are in a section of the cemetery that I did not do yet, then they may fall under those conditions.
Now, the good news is that I also simultaneously upload to BillionGraves.com. Since those images are crowdsource transcribed, they are mostly uploaded. I did apparently capture at least two more Weller's. You can see them listed here: http://billiongraves.com/pages/cemeteries/Oak-Woods-Cemetery-and-Confederate-Mound/180710#cemetery_id=180710&lim=0&num=25&action=search&family_name=weller&given_name=null
You can also see the photos, and see where they are located in the cemetery, as they are GPS tagged.
As to people who are buried there and died as early as 1860-1870, the number of legible markers from that period is few, although they certainly are there. So chances are that the only way you will be able to get information about where they are buried is from the office, which may cost $10 per record.
The neighborhood is certainly not what it was when the cemetery began. However, the cemetery is walled and has security and is quite safe. It is a beautiful place to visit too.

Thanks for your efforts re my Grand Uncle P.F.C. Hawkins. I just began review of my ancestry this year. Not sure what you mean by taking the responsibility. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks again.

I show their father as being Pierce Jefferies
b 8 Apr 1818 and d 7 Jan 1893, born in Chester Pennsylvania. Keep in touch and maybe we can help one another on the family line.

|Billie Sorrels||Ruel & David Jefferies|
Do you have any information on the parents of Ruel & David? I know their father was Pierce Jefferies born in 1818 and died in 1893. He was from Ohio and bought 160 acres. He was a brick layer in Warsaw. He later increased his acreage to 313 acres. I cannot find anything in Find A Grave for him or his wife Mary Schrack or Shrack.
My late ex-husband was the great grandson to Rose Etta Jefferies, Davids daughter.

No, that clear.
Thanks for the information.

Rob, you filled this request for Henry. I had sec 1901, single grave 19. You attached the picture and made the following comment:
What was referred to as "Public Grounds" in the late 1800's and early 1900"s. These are now identified on the current cemetery map as Sections 7, 8 and 13.
So let me see if I got this right. Henry was buried in area Sec 1901, single grave 19 and it was called the common grounds. Not this area is section 7, 8 and 13. Is this correct?
Henry was a brother of my Grandfather that I found in the records recently. Up until then I wasn't even aware of his existence.
Thanks for the information.

|darealjolo||2Lt Robert Irvin Benedict|
My friend Geoff took me to Cambridge and we have some shots of the Tablets of the Missing on which 2Lt Robert Irvin Benedict’s name appears. He is editing/cropping them for me-we may upload four. If you are not happy with them, say so-we won’t be in the least offended and we may be buying a better camera after Christmas and we can do them again.
