Agree. A life abridged with two small pieces of published paper . . . an obituary and memorial card. Connections complete; at least in the older obits, today, not so much.
|Minnesota Norsk||RE: Flattum obits|
I have more obits to post for the Flattum's from my Aunt JoAnn Flugum's genealogy records. She has an entire binder full of them . . . are you ready for the avalanche?
Next week is the Sorbo Reunion so I'll be traveling to Minnesota and will stop in Silver Lake to clean and photograph graves, research old church records and visit with much loved relatives. That being said, there will be more photos and info coming for the Flattum, Haugerud and Sorbo families.
How do you fit in to the Flattum family?

Update. I guess you have seen this memorial.
Find A Grave Memorial# 3453754
If his mother is related to you, then I guess we are cousins-in-law?
H. T. Hoyne was first born of 5 children (site states 4?)
1. Herman T. Hoyne
2. Amos Dean Hoyne married Lillian W. Bruesch
had one son: Daniel Amos Hoyne who married
Ada Mae Snyder = 4 children and at least 2
3. Elmer Toy Hoyne married Marie Snyder
(divorced) then married Evelyn Laffin
4. Lillian Johanna Hoyne (no record of marriage)
5. Wendell Wyatt Hoyne married Tresa Durkin
A lot of this stuff is in the Lien Lineage which is an unpublished work from 3 May 1980 compiled by the Comafords. I am re-writing this 92 page document, now have stories written about the Norwegian parent immigrants by their children & grandchildren.
The index of names I have identified is 40 plus pages in a Microsoft Excel document. The stories (in MS Word are roughly 100 ages by themselves
I am looking for details of spouses who married into or out of the Lien family as well as images of these people. I am working on getting The Lien Lineage turned into a PDF file. What I have is what we call a hard copy and it is getting a little dog-eared.

|Gunny||Herman Tanner Hoyne|
OK - Here is what you said: related? Via Herman Tanner Hoyne?
I am related to Herman via his mother's side of the family. His parents were Tosten Evensen Trae and Agnethe Andersdatter. I am through Agnethe's brother, Arne. I am on the look-out for photos for the family tree.
This is what I can relate: My Herman Tanner Hoyne
was the first born (of 5 children) and 1st son of Anton Julius Hoyne and Anna Caroline Evenson. A.J. Hoyne would later marry Mrs. Lottie McLeod (no children). A.J. Hoyne: 3 Feb 1874 to 13 Jan 1963 - second generation Norwegian-American
My information on Herman Tanner Hoyne: Born: 4 April 1896 (possibly the 16th) and passed away in Saint Cloud, MN at the VA Hospital there and is buried at Fort Snelling having served in the USN during WWI. My information shows he never married.
I am related to Hoyne via a great (X?) Aunt by the name of Dorothea Gunnarsdatter (Kongs)Lien who married Hover Ingebretson Hoine as Mrs. Johnson (there is a story there).
Like every one I have researched that came from Norway, seems that name changing was as easy as changing clothes. Dorothea became Dorothe (Dorte / Dorthea) Sigrid became Sarah and one individual just about changed all his given names.
So, are we related? Got me! Hopefully I have given you enough to make the connection and let me know what information I am missing!
Be aware, I too am on the photo hunt!
So, jumping from Evenson Trae to Hoine or Hoyne - I do not see a match. Another story not told?

Torsten was my great-great grandfather. Both of my grandparents have been dead since 2002, but while recently going through some of their old stuff, I found this picture, which was labeled on the back and in my grandpa's handwriting. Unfortunately I don't know any other info as to its origins.

You are welcome Cheryl. My parents had those pictures. Are you related thru the Aanrud side?
Added by Sandra on Jul 26, 2016 1:13 PM
Margaret Irene (Aanrud) Schmidt
I checked the North Dakota online death index and these are also the dates they list online.
You could order a copy of the death certificate to confirm.
Hope this helps..
