Bio and Links
Bio Photo My interest in genealogy began as a tween when Roots came out. I drew a pedigree chart for my grandmother to fill in. I was so excited when she mailed it back to me, filled in with pencil. I've been hitting the research hard the past few years as the children have grown up and have their own lives. Waiting for the next little leaves...

My research involves the Southards, Sniders, Solies, and can't forget the Morks, Czerwonkas, Kvernens, Rogers, Hansons (lots of Hansons), Larsons, and love it when the Hansons and Larsons flipflop and I don't know which side of the fence I am on.

If you have any photos of peeps on Find A Grave, please forward them. I covet them! Names on a piece of paper are much more meaningful with a photo.

You may use without permission photos of grave markers/headstones uploaded by me, but must state "used by permission from Cheryl Miller"

Photos on my memorials posted by others, you will need to ask the poster of the photos for permission.

Regarding photos of people on memorials that I have posted, you must ask!!!

I know...I know... please show respect by asking to use my family's photos :)

RE: Myrtle Martin and Jesse Martin
The more I research into things, the less sure I am that Grace Conrad was a daughter of Frederick and Johanna Conrad. I simply don't see any evidence of it, but maybe you do or maybe I'm missing something.

And if you want a picture of Myrtle Conrad, I would still need you to send me email to and I can send you a picture by return email. That's the only picture I have from that side of the family.

I don't have a picture of Johanna. All I have is Myrtle (Conrad) Martin. I took it myself when I was in junior high. I would have to email you a copy. To do that, you need to write me at

The children I have for Frederick and Johanna Conrad are:

Johanne (b. 1877)
Charlotte (Lottie) (b. 1880)
Fred Charles (1881 -- 1950)
Ottillie (Tillie) (b. 1882)
William (1887 -- 1918)
Myrtle (1889 -- 1973)

I don't know about sibling Grace. It may have been a nickname for Ottillie. I do note that Grace is not a German name. I doubt it was her given name.

RE: Myrtle Martin and Jesse Martin
I knew Myrtle Martin -- my step great-grandmother. She was the sweetest little old lady you could imagine. She lived with Jesse in a bungalow home up on Warren Ave., near the top of Queen Anne Hill. She kept an immaculate home. She also bought me a very expensive leather Bible, which I still have. I should have established a better relationship, but I was only in junior high at the time, and didn't know how to do it. (I was still living in Portland.) I have a picture on Ancestry I took of her.

What was her eldest sister's first name? Was it also Johanna like her mother? I'm not sure of the spelling. If I could also have the birth and death dates of Myrtle's siblings, that would also be great. Myrtle never talked much of her family, but then I never asked :(

Thanks so much,

RE: Corrections for Jesse Martin and wife
My mother (their granddaughter) arranged the funerals, and told me where they would be interred. Earlier this year I called up Queen Anne Columbarium and asked them to do a lookup, just in case my memory had failed me. "Yup, they're both here", was the friendly reply.

So, I don't know what to say about the documentation, other than for you to call the columbarium and do another look up.

Kind regards,
Jim Schira

RE: Photo of Gilmore children
Thank you so very much for sharing that precious photo of my step-grampa Floyd Gilmore. He is the only Grampa I ever knew and I adored him!
