Since I was a little girl I have had a tremendous fear of cemeteries. As a child I was left in a very old one late at night and I never thought I would overcome this experience. Recently, I was able to travel back east with my husband and youngest son. While there my son wanted to see Arlington Cemetery. Being the wonderful mom that I am, I wanted my son to have a trip he would remember forever so I agreed. Watching the changing of the guard and seeing all of those graves of the people who have served our country and lost their lives was a heart wrenching experience, especially since my youngest son made the decision to become a Marine. Now, I want to discover my family and start their geneology so my children will know who their ancestors are. Once there was fear, now there is a longing to walk where others have walked.
