THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For loved ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Fronk/Redding in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell
Debbie,

I submitted an edit for the name of my great Aunt Julia Silas Fronk Kizer. I was wondering if you would consider transferring her memorial to me as well as her father Louis Pearl Fronk (my great grandfather) and my other great Aunt Mildred G. Yelton Redding?

I sure appreciate your hard work. I am planning a trip there in April with my Mom to visit the cemetery and pay our respects. Any tips you have for finding the graves would be much appreciated. Especially the unmarked one (Julia).

Thanks.

James M Reynolds Memorial# 50419227
Hi, I came across this memorial while making one for the same person. Reynolds Cemetery and Thomas Reynolds Cemetery are two different cemeteries in the same area. A lot of the memorials listed in the Thomas Reynolds Cemetery are actually in the Reynolds Cemetery. If you look up Reynolds Cemetery the photo by Ron is the correct Reynolds Cemetery. Just thought you should know.

RE: t routt
when they closed the original cem. in cov they moved the bodies to highland. just assuming he was one of them and he is there. if you think I need to remove the cem. I would be ok with that. the record keeping was lousy back then and I heard they never got all the bodies out before the train tracks were put in. let me know what you think I will do it. thanks for all dale

John McArthir, Jane Wilson, James Petri and William Turner
Hi Debbie,

I just added your info to Mary Jane's memorial in Highland Cemetery.

John and Mary Jane (Jane) were husband and wife, for is for sure.

I believe James Petri could be Jane's daughter Fannie (Wilson) Petri's husband or son, but I can't find Fannie on the census to be sure.

William Turner might be a son of of Jane's daughter Nancy Ellen "Nellie" (Wilson) Turner who died young. (I'm guessing).

Is there any way to find out anything about the original burials in the other cemetery?

Thanks for your help.

Brian
