Most of my work is from "mowing the rows" in our local cemeteries or in those that are special to me when I get a chance to visit. I try to be very thorough in what I do post to this site. My favorite part of contributing to Find A Grave is walking the cemeteries and taking photos. ACCURATE cemetery documentation is very important, and this is why I do what I do. |
I love to research and link families, and add biographical information - please use the Edit tab and send me any information you would like to have added, and I will add based on the rules for bios set in the Find A Grave FAQ's.
I transfer only within the four-generation
PLEASE carefully check the cemetery in which you want to list a memorial (it doesn't hurt to quickly check the county too) BEFORE you list it, as one may already exist for that person. Duplicate memorials for the same person, ("Dupes"), whether accidental or intentional, are not allowed by F-A-G. Duplicates erode the quality of this site and are problematic for many reasons. I will send you a friendly SAC if I see one.
It is very sad that quite a few contributors continue to misuse this site and post entries as permanent BURIAL UNKNOWN, both recent deaths and those 100 years ago or more.
This is Find A GRAVE, not a memorial site for generations of folks who have passed on and we do not know where they are buried, or for certain what happened to their remains.
I do not add entries for those with unknown dispositions (Burial Unknown) to Find A Grave. I also will not link my managed memorials to those without proper dispositions. Please do not link any BURIAL UNKNOWN entries to the memorials I manage; I will request the links to be removed if I become aware they have been linked.
PLEASE realize this is a GRAVES REGISTRATION SITE, not a place for you to build your family tree :) If you do not know where the person was buried, or the final disposition of the remains, you should not be listing the person on FIND A GRAVE.
The most recent FAQ's regarding the purpose of this site:
What is Find A Grave?
Find a Grave's mission is to find, record
and present final disposition information from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience.
Memorial contributions to Find A Grave should fulfill that mission - registration
of the final disposition. If the memorial contribution corresponds with only the
main mission,then the memorial fulfills its purpose as part of Find A Grave's mission.
Find a Grave memorials may contain rich content including pictures, biographies and more specific information. Members can
leave remembrances via ‘virtual flowers' on the memorials they visit, completing the virtual cemetery experience.
Find A Grave is a resource for anyone in finding the final disposition of family,
friends, and ‘famous' individuals.
Find A Grave is definitely a genealogical RESOURCE, but not a genealogical SITE..... There's a difference :)

|Anne Shurtleff Stevens||Thank you|
for your stance on unknown burials!!
|Anne Shurtleff Stevens||Carl Ansbury|
The duplicate was created by a volunteer who is placing many memorials in the incorrect cemetery. Thank you for bringing another to my attention, I shall contact Findagrave to have the memorial deleted.
|Jeff Lovelace||Frances Fowler|
This is a wrongful burial. Records concur with D/C which states burial took place in Flat Creek Cemetery. Data will follow soon, which will be posted on memorial.
|Jeff Lovelace||Frances Fowler|
D/C is up and marker photo does contradict. Phone call to solve issue tomorrow.
|Nana x4||Scanned obits|
Thank you for pointing out the scanned obit but I probably have hundreds posted on my memorials. Personally, I don't like them. There were two contributors that were doing this. One stopped and even went back and took all of them off. Guess an admin said something to her. The other one continues to do it.

Don't let one dampen your spirit. The rules are in place for a reason and it is unfortunate some can't respect them. Thanks for al you do!
|Jeni||Re: reba burrell ray photo|
I am disappointed that you are such a hard person to talk to. I will not bother with trying any more.
I will remove the photo. But I want you to know that I do not think you are sensible or reasonable in this request. You are not taking into account the possible benefits of my photo to other family members. In other words, you are being selfish.
Do not reply to this, I do not want to hear from you again.

I see that the only complaint you have about my putting a repaired photo on your memorial is that you did not get the credit for it.
This can easily be remedied by you. Simply download the photo onto your computer, then re-upload it to the memorial in your name. I will remove mine.

I got your message about my re-adding a photo you had already added. I did not know what you were talking about until I checked the memorial. I added that photo because I had ran it through my photo repair program & increased the contrast. I thought the improvement would be of interest to family members. I often do this for people, they are usually appreciative & download it to their own computer.
Let me know if you still disapprove, I will remove it.
I noticed you disapprove of anyone who adds a memorial to persons whose families did not see fit to buy a monument for their gravesite, however this is not a problem for me. It is also not a problem for FindAGrave, as they have instructions on how to do this. I have had several relatives whose gravesites are not marked with a stone but whose family members have told me where they were buried, and some whose death certificates told me where they were buried. I have added memorials for almost all of them so as to commemorate their lives equally to all their other relatives. FindAGrave is for Graves, not just for cemeteries. It is for the people. (There are also instructions to create a memorial for those who have been cremated.)
Everyone has their pet peeves. One thing that is a pet peeve with me is people who put pictures of church fronts on FindAGrave cemeteries. This is a site for gravesites, not churches, the photos should be focusing on the graveyard; the church, when one still exists, is secondary.
I appreciate your noticing the photo I added, I was hoping it would be appreciated. Perhaps it was by someone else. I like to repair photos & return them in better condition to their families. I have received many commendations for this, and requests for information on how to buy photo repair programs that are easy to use for amateurs. I have repaired hundreds of family & non-family photos without charge as a goodwill gesture to other genealogy researchers.
Let me know if you still want me to remove the photo.
