I live in western Michigan, was born and raised in northwestern Pennsylvania, and have many kin who live in Virginia. I tend to be obsessed with this genealogical hobby of mine and have been doing it for many years. |
My wife (#47319613)and I have taken tens of thousands of photos. We also have many memorials. We often go out and photograph entire cemeteries. However, she is the one who does the hard work of uploading the vast majority of the photos to Find A Grave. We do all of this hoping that our work will assist someone in locating either a lost ancestor or being able to view for the first time the headstone of a known one. When possible we try to take pictures of headstones in context, i.e. we also include a picture of the lot in which the person is buried. This can be very helpful for researchers in identifying others who are related. We have had several favorable comments regarding this in the past.
I generally use my site for either my ancestors or for doing pet projects. I have many memorials and links up for my northern roots-my Burns, Kleckner, Stull, Woodring, Wright ancestors and their descendants. I would welcome any contact from my Burns relatives, as I am unable to trace them back beyond 1780. John Burns is my earliest known ancestor. My southern ancestral roots, most of whom ended up in Grayson County, Virginia, include Halsey, Hash, Anderson, Cobb, Comer, Cornett, Lane, Parks, Rutherford, Ward, Phipps, and Sutherland, to name a few.
Since my ancestors were early Grayson settlers, I find I am related to many of those who live there, especially in the Independence-New river Area.
Feel free to use the photos I have taken and uploaded. I only ask that you give me credit as their source.

|Sarah Pullen ||RE: Edits & Documentation|
So sorry David. I will go back and look at my messages. Did not mean to ignore you. I will make a note and check the documentation she requested. Thanks.
I just started looking for family on Long Island and saw that you manage some Terry's there. I have recently learned that my branch of the Terry family moved from Long Island to western Michigan in 1857. Freaky huh. Harrison cemetery in Prairie Ronde Kalamazoo county is chocked full of my relatives. I'm guessing you may live near by. It's a small world. No requests, I just had to pass that along.
Regards Dave T.
|BONNIE S.||Mem. 7592082 Ralph Dayton|
Hi David - Does Ralph Dayton's stone inscription say that he died in 1650? The reason I'm saying this is that info from ancestry.com says that he was married a 4th time to Mary - widow of James Haynes - June 1656 and that he died in 1657. Just trying to keep my information straight. Please let me know if my information is incorrect.

Got it! Thanks.
|Steve Lusk||Thomas Benedict (1641-1688)|
You are managing Thomas Benedict's memorial (#7593733). Do you have any other information? this seems to closely match Thomas Benedict, II (also 1641-1688 and memorial #33739144). I have a pretty extensive database of Benedicts (I am a direct relative of the line), but I only 1 Thomas born in 1641 and dying in 1688.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cuz, You were right! I had no clue who Scout is. So I was trying to figure it out. Of course you can use my photo in your tree. I wish someone in the family had a photo of Tom Hash. I see you have Parks in your family as well. My maternal great grandmother name was Ollie Beatrice Parks born in Grayson to Rilla (not sure of spelling) Parks no father listed.
|Tina Adams||RE: John Granger|
Photos of the monument of Harriet Granger wife of John were posted as well.
|Rich Kreiss||RE: Missouri Lane Anderson|
No problem, David. Send her back if you ever get tired of managing her memorial.
|Rich Kreiss||Never mind the previous posting|
David - When you sponsored the memorial I automatically received a copy of the memorial. Yes, she is related to me through her mother (Parks) but I decided to transfer her to you since you were kind enough to sponsor her memorial. I have thousands of memorials that I would transfer in a heartbeat but I rarely ever transfer a known relative.
|Rich Kreiss||RE: Missouri Callie Lane Anderson (# 20384683)|
Dave - The transfer may not be a problem. Please go to her memorial and click the "EDIT" tab at the top and then click "Suggest a Correction, etc." Close by clicking the "Send" tab once at the bottom. That way I'll automatically get the memorial with your contributor number included which will make it much easier to do a transfer. Btw, her name sounds vaguely familiar to me and I'll be able to distinguish then if she is a distant relative of mine and I'll let you know.
