Bio Photo I am retired and spending lots of time on our family genealogy.
My paternal ancestor surnames include Watson, Jones, Shelton, Wilburn, Howard, Arthur, Williams, Hamilton. My maternal ancestor surnames include Robbins, Horseman, Guthrie, Whitley, Mankins, See, Honaker, Dawson. Most of my ancestors are from the South, eg KY, VA, TN, SC, GA, AL, AR and migrated into my native Texas. I am residing in the heart of Texas, in Brown County with my sweetheart Nancy. Happy hunting.

RE: Henry 31817086
Danny,

The only information I have is what was furnished to me by his family. They stated he died enroute to France and that's why I have him listed as buried at sea.

I did a search of military records and could not find the information you found. Do you know the name of the ship and what port in France it went too? And the date it arrived.

I would like to be sure that he actually made it to France. Or if Libourne, France was just the port of call for the ship. I had a grandmother who was born at sea enroute to the US and her birth records show she was born in Canada, but she never has been there. The point I'm making is he may have died at sea but Libourne is just listed as death place.

Looking forward to your reply.

Harold

RE: David M Loftis
I went by my local public library today, and they happened to have a transcription book for Oakwood Cemetery (published 1981). David M. Loftis wasn't listed. So he may still be buried at Oakwood, but if so, his grave is unmarked.

RE: David M Loftis
Hi Danny,
I wish I could check the cemetery for you, but I live about two hours away. I can tell you that it is a huge cemetery, so going out on foot and looking probably wouldn't be an option anyway. I don't know of a cemetery association that you could contact; I think that it is probably managed by the city. I believe that the Comanche Public Library has copies of transcription books, or there is a website at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txcomanc/lookups.htm that shows people willing to do lookups. Those are probably your best bets.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck with your search.
