Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been involved in Genealogy for over 27 years. Became a Professional Genealogist in about 2008. I have an Associate of Science Degree in Science that was awarded on 16 Jun 1982. I am presently working on my Certification Portfolio for my CG. Found Find-A-Grave in October 2009, and joined. I feel that it is a good way to keep the memory, of those who have passed away, alive. Will transfer a relative to you, unless it is my relative also.____________________________________________________Quoting another FAG contributor and agreeing."I think it is a real shame what findagrave has evolved into. What started as a noble way to link people with graves of loved ones they could never hope to see, and with the generations that had preceded them, has turned into a game for some. Memorials have turned into a kind of "trading card", a competition of who can own the most memorials and post the highest numbers. What has been forgotten by many is that these were people, loved in life and death, not a commodity to be traded or owned. With my apologies to those that have pure motives. I hope there are more of us than there are of them".I would like to thank Contributor Bernice for this thought, and also say that I agree with her and the original poster.

My sister Susan Conner passed away on Dec. 27, 2015. Her Memorial #156405201. Please stop by and leave a flower.

Thank You SO much!
I love what you wrote on my mother's memorial. I use to tell my students the same thing, just in other words. I always altered my plans for mom and even though it's been 13 years, I still mention her name daily in at least one conversation.

Thanks again

In Total Agreement With You........
.... in what you said about find a grave. I honestly try to "personalize" each memorial that states something about them because as you said they were loved ones and living beings at one time. Some memorials are just "listings" without much thought and then some are created as you said because of a "me first" tendency. Thank you for your edit for Glenn Shumate as I don't have access to alot of records as most people on here do. Be Blessed Always Anthony.

RE: Re: Sarah Howard #85309125
Anthony it was not my intention to take your memorials away. I do not care about numbers. I only wanted to link the family together. You see Sarah was married to a Johnson first. I am told that he was riding in a truck with a mule and was accidentally killed somehow. It is the son, Charles Johnson, from that first marriage that I know. I really never met Sarah or her 2nd husband. She was a sister to my husband's maternal grandfather who was also accidentally killed at age 36. I know too much information. All the best to you.

RE: Re: Sarah Howard #85309125
You are welcome Anthony. I am just trying to pull my husband's family together. Sarah was the last sibbling of Marion Washington Hammons, my husband's grandfather, that I had to find. I did not mean to over step my bounds. I do know Sarah's son Charles Johnson personally. A fine person. Are you a relative? If so, I would be glad to share other info with you.,

Anthony,

Please delete the above memorial you created for Clara Cox Long. Clara Cox Long was my mother and I created a memorial for her (#167068552) on July 16. Yours was created on July 19. I have asked you repeatedly to delete your memorial but have heard nothing from you. I want you to know that you have caused me a great deal of grief and aggravation. You don't even know my mother but you create a memorial for her without checking if someone in her family created one for her first. I have linked my father to her memorial and have linked my mother to her father and mother.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. If I don't hear anything from you I will escalate this to find a gave admin.

You are SO right!
I agree about some Find A Grave members, it's a number game, they make no attempt to secure info. I have one particular member in Virginia that has gathered up many members of my family and all the memorial has is their first name, last name, birth year, death year! She refuses to give them to me who has all the info, an obit/bio, plus photo.

Sometimes one need more info then name and year to know if it's the person they are searching. I wish that Find A Grave would turn off the counter to the public and stop recognizing people for have thousand and thousand of memorials with little substance.

It's really ironic that my forefathers were held in captivity in Virginia until freedom in 1860 only to die and be back in captivity on Find A Grave. I only refused to not transfer one memorial and that was because the person was my great grandmother and I had worked very hard to find her to the point I ask another Find A Grave member (we found out we are related) drove over to the next city found her, photographed the entire cemetery created a memorial and then transferred all 200+ to me. Even though I didn't know of 90% of them, I am finding out they too are relatives by blood or marriage.

That how we should work...together!

Thank you for all you do!!! I appreciate you!
