My love for researching my family's history comes from my grandmother Lois, who we affectionately called "Ma-Mah." I spent a lot of time with her when I was young and I learned all about the family history of the Wilsons, Roups, Kynetts, and Lunds. |
Names I'm researching and would like info on -
From: Linn/Johnson/Cedar County, Iowa:
Wilson, West, Perry, Kynett, Weaver, Morrison, and Hammer.
From Polk/Jasper County, IA:
From Madison County, IN:
Wilson, Perry, West, Busby, Weaver, and Hammer.
From Hancock/McDonough County, IL:
Steepleton, Aten, Bartlow, Gleason
I try to pick up photo requests when I have time. I'm very interested in adding bio information for the memorials I have. If you can find an obituary for one of my memorials that doesn't have one, any info you could provide would be helpful. ** PLEASE DO NOT POST PHOTOS/SCANS OF OBITUARIES ON MEMORIALS -- they take up photo space. Send me the text of the obit and the source and date via the suggestion tab on the memorial and I will add it to the bio section ** Memorial transfers will be done within FAG Guidelines. However, if the person is not a relation or a friend of mine then I am willing to transfer a memorial. Please feel free to ask.
**ALSO PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE ANY OF THE PHOTOS I HAVE POSTED AS LONG AS IT IS FOR PERSONAL AND NOT BUSINESS USE**

I was amazed at the stone of Margaret B. West Tyson! Can you tell me how you did this! I have several stones in my family that are in the same shape. Thanks!
|N J Martin||ELIZABETH JANE BUSBY|
Can you tell me why you think Elizabeth Jane Busby (you have her as Jane "Jennie" Busby Perry and she was mar to Henry Perry died in 1838 and is bur in Busby Cem? Do you have some sort of proof???
We never found a stone for her there in all the days we spent there and someone gave me a death of 1834. Not saying she isn't buried there but with no proof, you might want to say in her bio that you think she is buried there just in case someone else knows when she died and where she is actually buried.
Who knows there may be a family bible somewhere with the info.
Henry Perry did have a wife in 1830 living with him and children in Madison Co IN and I do not have his 2nd marriage so not sure when he mar her, so depending on when he mar 2nd wife, that may be her??? If you know the mar date for 2nd wife that would also be a clue to when Elizabeth Jane (Busby) Perry died.

Yes Obits prob should be put in the Bio section not where pictures go. I guess when I started doing Find A Grave there was no limit on how many pictures etc... Of course now Ancestry owns Find A Grave they bought it from the man who started it, which I find annoying bec he made money from what all of us poured sweat and hard work doing and we got nothing!!! LOL!! OH WELL!
Now can I ask you why you think Esther Ann who mar James Biddle was a Slaughter and why you think she is the d/o John & Sarah?
I don't find Esther with James Biddle in 1850 and I don't find her at all in 1850 either trying Esther or Hester or Biddle or Slaughter and I don't find Sarah with John either I think maybe she died March 1850 (the census was taken in Oct that year) and perhaps her year of death is incorrect on the stone as 1851 or poss Sarah was in a hosp or institution???
|N J Martin||OBITS|
Could I ask why you do not want anyone to scan a copy of an obit to a memorial? That is a very very good way for someone to know if it is the person they are looking for and also get information that they may not be able to obtain.
|N J Martin||JANE BUSBY PERRY|
Can you tell me why you think she is bur in Busby Cem Fall Creek Twp near Pendleton Madison Co IN?
We spent days and hours in there and saw nothing close to that name. I did find one stone that the name was unreadable and we think the death date was Sept of 1836 I put it UNKNOWN PERSON and you can see it there but the stone is not on there, I think the person who took the picture lost it after we were done. We did go back once more to try to make sure we got all we could, but they built a home there and the people did not like it one bit that we wanted to go in there. They agreed to let us in one more time so I don't think anyone will be allowed back in there unless the couple has changed their mind about it. They were afraid someone would get hurt and sue them or something. I think the county needs to quit claim deed just that piece of prop and make a lane back there to it but they won't do it.
I deleted my duplicate. Thank you for letting me know.
My father was Larry. He passed Aug. 2, 2008. Arnette was know as Kay - never had children and has passed also. Nice to meet you.

Would you let me use the photo you took of Margaret's stone that is wrapped in foil for a presentation? I would give you credit. I just would like an example of what someone can do to read a stone better. Thanks.
Sorry, I don't have any information regarding where Ben Hamilton (who married Cynthia Bartlow) was buried. I have a cemetery book published by the LaHarpe Historical and Genealogical Society. This is the most complete hardcopy published record available, but I have found a few burials not documented in this book.
Nor can I prove that Ben died in 1873 - the year I've seen quoted. What I can document is that Cynthia was NOT listed with Ben and their daughter, Jane LeEtta, in 1870, and she wasn't listed with her parents. It's possible that she was simply missed, or her name was dropped during a copying of the census pages, OR it may indicate that Ben and Cynthia had separated. And that leads to the possibility that the person/s quoting a death year of 1873 were assuming that Ben died about that time.
Please contact me via e-mail if you'd like to continue discussing this family.
