I was trained as a history and economics teacher. My concern for students who were not functioning at the height of their ability led me in the field of Guidance Counseling. Now that I am retired I started doing family history research. I find it fasinating, revealing for the story it tells and vey rewarding.
I am not a graver, I don't profess to be and will probably never have that passion. However I am vey grateful to the gravers who have spent their time, money and energy taking photos and setting up memorials. I think it is a beautiful way to honor and remember those who have gone before you.
I do however have problems with gavers who hang on to memorials solely because they set it up, or as one said to me she plans to do some research in the area and she will wait for a local relative before the memorial is transfered. Anyone who is doing family research already knows more than someone taking a picture. Most gavers have been very nice and helpful and I want to give a shout out to them.
