Please, when submitting edits for memorials, try and submit sources/indexes to support your edits, even so, your name and contributor profile # will be added to bio stating you submitted the information.
Photos that I upload, I do not mind if you use them for another site like Ancestry.com, I have started adding a copyright to my photos, if it does not reflect one please make sure to note my name and date photo taken if you use it. Thanks kindly
As a volunteer for this site, I am willing to take pics at grave sites near my home(Gardena),and while traveling. I have taken pics at local cemeteries regularly to document them. One thing I try and do for every single person I photograph is to do a bit of research to hopefully find additional data such as full birth and death dates, possible spouses, children, and parents, and link them where possible. This is not part of volunteering for this site but I know that it will certainly make it easier for those seeking their family members.
My family originates from rural Lexington and Thomasville, Davidson County, NC and Randolph County on dads side with surnames of Hughes, Miller, Beanblossom, Pierce, Lambeth, Hunt, Gordon, Gallimore, Starbuck, Cecil, and Rural Pitt, Craven, Brunswick, New Hannover, Onslow and Currituck Counties in NC and Norfolk, Portsmouth, VA on my Mom's side with Surnames Roach, Speight, Haddock, Halstead, Nelson, Chapman, Cannon, Smith, Cox, Mills and Hardee.
I am also managing my partners family which on his Mom's side is Anae, Tufaga and his Dad's side Young, Haam Young, Kuanaio, Kali, Haleakala. Both his parents originated from Hawaii on the Islands of Oahu and Kauai. His grandparents on mother's side originated from Samoa and his Dad's side from Hawaii and North Korea.

|Kendel Williams||RE: Algar Hughes|
Thanks so much for the reply! I'm very new to the whole process so any advice is very much appreciated! I consider Gordontown and Silver Valley part of home! Let me know if you need any information from the area! Hope your Christmas and New Year is awesome!
|Kendel Williams||RE: Algar Hughes|
Hi! Just wanted to clarify the photo. There is an Alger Holton #128668243 already listed in the interments for Cedar Springs cemetery. Basically, I believe your "Algar Hughes"#111293681 and the "Alger Holton" to be the same person. The only discrepancy that I note is the birth date. Alger Holton's headstone reads June 11, 1903. Algar Hughes (on the site) is listed as June 3, 1903. The death date is the same. Two things lead me to believe they are the same:
1) The location of the grave is directly beside AJ Hughes #111259648 and Mattie Elizabeth #111259648 and on the other side are several "Infant Hughes" graves...all listing AJ Hughes and Mattie Elizabeth as their parents.
2) One thing that really isn't noticeable from the photo (and is REALLY hard to see in person...but it's there) is that the name "Hughes" is on the bottom of the headstone. Look closely at the photo...at the bottom of the headstone...right above the base...the name "Hughes" is almost gone.
ie I believe Algar Hughes is Alger Holton Hughes!
I hope this helps! Also, I live in Denton...so if you have other memorials that need a photo, just let me know. I'll be glad to help. Cedar Springs has several Wards who are from my family btw.
|Sue Green||Nellie F Thompson Noble #997556098|
I have been bringing my research of back logs up to date and have finally figured out that Your Nellie F Thompson/Noble isn't the same Nellie M Knapp/Noble that I have records for. Mine was definitely born in MO Nov 1893 and married Willis Ralph Noble, Jan of 1916 in Spokane, Wa. She brought a child Lois Campbell (1914) to this marriage. Then she and Willis R Noble had 3 more children.
Lela Noble 1917 ~ Ralph Fouch Noble 1918 and Eva L Noble 1928.
The biggest coincidence is that she died 8 lFeb 1975 in Wilmington, LA, California...
Sorry for the confusion but glad to finally figure this one out (I hope)

Thank you for the photo.
|Jan Therkildsen||Earl Niles and Ethel Botkin|
My Ethel Botkin Kelley # 15810225, was married 3 times. Her first husband, by whom she had 2 sons and 1 daughter, was Earl Robson Niles. They were married in 1904 in Ohio. By 1910, they were living in Salt Lake City, Utah (also their daughter Dorothy was listed as granddaughter living with Ethel's parents James and Laura Botkin in Mesa County, Colorado in 1910 census). By 1920, Ethel was living in Dragon, Utah with 2nd husband James Toppan and her 3 Niles children. And by 1930, Ethel was married to her 3rd husband William Kelley and living in Roosevelt, Utah with that husband and her 2 Niles sons. Her first husband Earl Robson Niles was b 1882 per 1904 marriage record but 1885 per cemetery record. He married 2nd to Ada in 1918 and he had 3 more children by her -- they were living in Carbon County, Utah in 1920 census (indexed incorrectly as Danl R Niles) and also in 1930. I have not found him in 1940. Because the one in Montrose is buried with wife Ada (right age per census records), I believe I have Ethel attached to the correct Earl Niles. Open to further comment from you though. Thanks.
|JM||Thank you, Jerry and Roger!|
Wow! I was just reading the impressive information you were able to dig up on some Potter memorials with no dates written on them. You are very kind and conscientious to include facts and likelihoods along with sources and reasoning. What a kind thing to do for someone who is not even your relative.
I am a Hunt, but via a German-American family that settled in Cincinatti. My grandfather says they changed it from the very German spelling Hund or Hundt after immigration to the U.S. Probably you're a Hunt via an English line...
Best wishes and thanks for being such a kind volunteer at Find A Grave.
