I started Genealogy a couple of years ago when my Grammy Beverly Grzywa started telling me stories and showing me pictures of her parents Clara and Leon Lukaszewski who was a pharmacist and owned L.S. Lukaszewski Drugs in Detroit MI, my papa Daniel Grzywa who was also a pharmacist and owned Trancick's pharmacy in Detroit MI, and other family members who were very close to her heart. My Grandma Betty Jane Pletcher also sparked my interest for genealogy by telling me how her father John Gonsey came to the US from Hungary, and got a job with twin pines Dairy as a milk man for the entire down river Detroit area. She also showed me pictures and told me stories of her husband Forrest Pletcher who was born in Pennsylvania, and was a child of a broken home. Knowing he had to support his mother and siblings, he dropped out of school in the eighth grade and moved to Detroit and got a job as a carpenter and how their son Charles now offers a scholarship every year to carpenter students every year in my grandpa's name. |
I started with researching my main family lines, but my research kept growing and growing. The main families I am researching are... Pletcher- Somerset Co. Pa, Grzywa, Detroit MI and Poland. Gonczy/ Gonsey Detroit MI and Hungary,and Lukaszewski Chicago IL., and Poland.
If you need info. on any of these names I will be glad to share that with you.
Also I have made a virtual cemetery for memorials I have either created or visited that I thought could use an extra flower, I named it Angels in Need of Flowers If you know of a person's memorial that should be added to this list please let me know.
I will gladly transfer management of any of my memorials to you only if you are a direct descendant of that person, and that person is not a direct descendant of me.
Feel free to use any of the info, and pics. I upload to find a grave for your own genealogy reasons.
I Do NOT MIND!

ANCESTORS OF YESTERDAY
Ancestors of so long ago,
I'll search until I find.
Till I can prove and clearly show,
that you are truly mine.
I'll follow behind your trail of tears,
the hidden footprints of time.
Covered and buried throughout the years,
and continue each mountain to climb.
I'll search every faraway seaside shore,
and every valley below.
I'll unlock each and every door,
as my own teardrops flow.
I'll unearth the buried History of you,
and your own Ancestral kin,
I'll search for that all important clue,
and open my heart to let you in.

Sending warm wishes for the holiday season from my house to yours. May you have a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year. Thank you for remembering my family members with such delightful tokens and kind words.
|Claudia LaBorde||Felix Lukaszewski|
My sister in Chicago just sent me a link to Find a Grave and Felix Lukaszewski's page. Felix was our great grandfather. My dad, George, was Ben's son and a pharmacist as well. I vaguely remember your grandmother but actually have a photo that stands amongst a table of old black and whites of your Aunt Darlene and I when I was a toddler. Would love to correspond with you. I haven't lived in Chicago in decades but travel back (now in the US Virgin Islands) to see the family at least twice a year. I remember Uncle Leo, and recognize the photo with Aunt Hattie. I believe it was taken at Shirley Lukaszewski's wedding in 1947. My Mother is still alive and often talks about Uncle Leo in Detroit.
I did not forget to retake the photo for Mrs. Tyrna - we just have not had great picture taking weather (I can only get out to Our Lady of Hope on weekends and we've really had some rainy weekends).
Anyways, while the new photo isn't perfect (the engraving is VERY shallow) it's MUCH better than my first attempt. It's a VERY nice stone and the Immaculate Heart of Mary AND Mrs. Tyrna deserved a second attempt.
Thank you for your patience. :)

Do you know who his parents were?
|RobMinteer57||pic on 90995249|
I've just been informed that the pic you added to this memorial is really for his son, who already has a couple pictures on his page.
You're more than welcome; and you may use the photos.
I wish I could have gotten Miss Stella's stone better; it's kind of a shallow engraving.
If I get back to Our Lady of Hope on a nice sunny day, I'll try it again and let you know if I have a better photo.
Thanks & Later.
