Edward Wallace Davis at Shockhoe Cemetery
I visited Shockhoe Cemetery for the first time in March of this year. I've recently discovered that my great, great grandparents and one of their children were buried there. I could only find Eliza Davis but not James L. Davis or his daughter Lettie. I did find three other headstones that I couldn't read but that was all. So,I was excited to find Lettie, James T. and Edward Wallace's burial records and photos on Find A Grave. I wasn't aware that those two sons existed. Your information has been very helpful. Did you take these photos last month? It's too bad that James L. Davis doesn't have a headstone. Also, do you know who planted flowers on Eliza's tomb?

Thanks again,

John Wright

Had no idea you were with the Shockoe Cemetery. We have been trying to get in touch with someone there for a long time. I am told my great grandfather Michael Patrck Burns was buried in Shockoe in the paupers section. No one sees to know that there is a paupers section. Is there any way we can check to see if he is buried there. We dont have much info on him. H was born 1832-42 in Cork County Ireland. He was maried to Annie Elizabeth Knauff Wagner Burns. Their last child was born 1881. And we have no burial date or Michael. He was a bar tender in downtown Richmond before his death. His children were Edward Burns, Ann Elizabeth Burnd, Josephine Burns and Robert E Burns. Thanks for your help

Thanks for checking the cemetery for his grave. If have a pic of the site, you can add it, but I would not go back just for that. At least we will know where he is buried. Thanks again

RE: Elizabeth Griffin Adams
I have not contacted the creator of Richard's memorial. Would you like for me too, or would you rather do it?

Thank you for all you do in keeping Shockoe Hill Cemetery information up to date. Specifically my 4th great-grandmother's tombstone which was raised, repaired and then photographed so I can see it as it was meant to be seen from my home in California. It is a beautuful, elaborate stone that could not be fully appreciated before.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Donohoe

Somehow, your photo is on the original memorial now #43231381, and the duplicate memorial is gone, so all is well. Thanks!
