We need to connect to our past to help understand our future.

Thank you so much to everyone who leaves flowers for our son! It means a lot to me to know he's remembered.

On Dec 23, 2014 at 5:10 am, we got the phone call every parent fears. Our middle son James Henry "Tank" Dowling age 37 had passed away suddenly. It would be a great honor if you could leave a note with a guitar or something yellow in color as he was colored blind and yellow was about the only color he could see.

RE: Chuck & James
Dear Saundra,

Thank you so much for sharing. My condolences to you and your family of your loss of James recently. I wish there was something I could say to help you in your grief. I went to your YT channel and James was a great singer and musician.
You have strong faith. Keep leaning on Jesus for when you feel you can't go anymore, Jesus will pick you up. Blessings to you and your family and you all are in my prayers. Many hugs....Dana

RE: Suggestion: In Memory of Your Son ... to Keep Him Close to Your Heart
We have James's guitar but never thought of adding
a pick in his memorial shadow box.

Make a list of his hobbies and personality traits that you most think of when you think of him and try to find little items that make you think of that hobby or trait.

If he had a favorite song as a child you can buy a 45 rpm record and put it in their ... or take sheet music and use it. You can even get creative like having someone turn a piece of sheet music into origami for the shadow box.

Speaking of origami ... often dollar bills are used for origami ... a bill taken out of his wallet (if you have any) might be nice for a shadow box. It doesn't make a different what paper you use but if the paper has some special connection to James it will have more meaning.
(sometimes YouTube has nice origami instructions that are easy to follow because you can actually watch someone doing it.

Things like their drivers license are nice to put in a memorial shadow box (especially since their photo is on it ... if you find an older one that you like even better than his last one when looking through his things you can use that instead ... or cover the photo on the license with a more favorite one).

Their are a lot of small items that can be interesting ways of remembering them if you use some creative thinking.

God Bless ...
