My name is Shanna (yes, named after the book). I live in the southern U.S. with my five cats (Gia, JoJo, Maggie, Max, & Abby) and adorable, Cajun fiance, Baret. My personal website is skatoolaki.com; my graving journal/blog can be found at Graver's Journal. I am also the Iberville Parish Keeper, here at FAG.
I'm 35 and a true-blue Scorpio (Nov. 6). I'm a web designer and a writer with some published work, and enough unfinished work to fill a large library.
I have always had a passion and interest in cemeteries...being a writer, I can't help but imagine what the lives of each name on each headstone were like.
One of the cemeteries that touched me most was Brandon Hall Cemetery, just off the Natchez Trace, in Mississippi. Taking the names and dates found there, I began my research into this family and to see what happened to the many children buried there...the fruits of my labor became The Brandon Children; a site and project I am continually working on.
I am also - finally - actively researching my family own history (and using F.A.G. to preserve information on final resting places and short bios). Surnames from the Avoyelles, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, and Iberville parishes that I'm always on the lookout for include (but aren't limited to!) Beauvais, Nugent, Prestenback, Charrier, Guerin, Deauville, Guillory, and Juneau. My work appears on my site, Louisiana Lineage.
Finally, if I have added any of your family/friends and you would like to take ownership or have changes made, please just let me know. | |

 | Greenoak As you can guess, I am the Caretaker of these and some other memorials of Joel Manuels. Joel has returned and I have offered to transfer back any of his memorials. But I do transfer over memorials to those who might have more information. Hope you have a Happy New Year | | | Dara deBlieux

 | RE: Mattie's Maiden Name Added I have heard that the Quins of Quin Drive are related to the Quines buried at Oak Lodge/Harelson Cemetery but am not sure of it? I did not know of a Hindu Temple on Quin drive but remember a skating rink at the end of the drive.
My grandfather, who is a grandson of William Elliott, buried @ Harelson Cemetery, told me that he was born in a house where Airline Hwy. overpasses Jefferson Hwy. He and his two brothers inherited much of the land which is now on Elliott Road. One of these days I am going to call the DOTD and tell them that for years they have been misspelling Elliott road as Elliot road.
That is so kind of you to offer a transfer but none are necessary. I am just thrilled to see Mattie's maiden name added along with the links to her parents! I must tell you that several months ago on a beautiful day I took my aunt to Harelson Cemetery and showed her the graves of her great and great great grandparents and she was overwhelmed and cried. She thought the cemetery was so beautiful & peaceful. It made her day! No one in our family knew exactly where they were buried until I came across Find-A-Grave and the information you recorded. Thank you again for all that you have done through Find-A-Grave! God bless you!

 | RE: Mattie's Maiden Name Added Thank you so much! And thanks for recording all the Quine's in Harelson Cemetery. It's been so nice to get some of my family members linked together with help from people like you!
I have removed most of the brush, etc. in the Quine/Elliott Family plot area and plan to get back soon to work in other areas in that cemetery. I know for certain there are at least several more graves that have not been accounted for.
Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!

 | the Harelson family cemetery I've been there recently, and all of those graves in that area are listed under Harelson Cemetery. But... it appears that there is more than one cemetery in that location, or there are about 5/6 "family" plots inside the Harelson cemetery. | | | justin Pendarvis
 | Lauren Fitzgerald I wanted to thank you for such a sweet memorial you wrote on Lauren. | | | Jay Stone
