Solon A. Dow
The front side of the stone had Solon A. Dow and the left side of the stone had info for A.S. Dow who I think is Augustus (Steuben) Dow...well that's according to my cousin who I took that photo for today. Maybe you two should connect? She's out in California and I went to the Floyd County courthouse today to look up some Dow stuff for her.

Rulof Duryea
The Duryea family had been exposed to the coal mining industry when they lived in Tioga County, PA. When Rulof's son Andrew Duryea heard about the coal mining activity in So. IL he and his family moved to the Thompsonville/Corinth, IL area and Andrew either purchased or started a Coal mine there. The mine was near the North/South RR (still active) and close to Corinth Rd (Cty.2). Andrew's father, Rulof and uncle Socrates Duryea moved also from Tioga County, PA to help Andrew with the mine. Rulof was killed in a mining accident and Socrates was seriously injured. We do not know whether it was one accident or two different ones. Shortly after these troubles, Andrew sold the mine and his family moved to the Table Rock, NE area. The story has been passed along in the family. I have neither proven it to be true or false, although I have tried tracing mining records in the area.
